Finally !!!!!

The newest firmware is now available for download to my original model Scribe! (I know I could have done this manually, but I'm feeling lazy.)

And given what I've read of this firmware, you may not want it.

I use my Scribe mainly for reading PDFs. The writing function is totally wasted on me. If I could toss that aspect out the window, I would.

(Writing with a real pen or an electronic one is still too painfully slow for me due to the stroke I had about 8 years ago. And I used to love writing with a pen: I was fast with my cursive! BUT, I would not be adverse to having a good tablet and a keyboard, to take with me instead of my computer. Strangely enough, I have no problems in using my left hand to type, but those first 2 or 3 years, I couldn't even pick up intentionally spilled beans on the table as I went through therapy, trying to pick each one up and depositing each bean in a cup. Also, during that time, I couldn't even hold a fork with my left hand! And don't get me started on eating peas!)

Cursive, what's that?

I also write faster using cursive vs print. Although once PCs became popular, I prefer typing (and I'm a touch typistand I hunt and peck).

Just converted a comic via KCC to PDF last night and I transferred to my scribe colorsoft and it kept the color, also I could write on it. I transferred through USB not send to kindle

I thought I tried this yesterday and color was not there. I'll check again.

Yes, it is in color. But it appears 2022/2024 Scribes do not have write-on feature (or color obviously) even with this update.

The new firmware has rendered my Colorsoft unusable:

Images in books can no longer be enlarged; instead, they're highlighted like text.

But the kicker:
Documents—that is, graphics in articles—that you send to your Kindle because you don't want to read them on the screen can no longer be zoomed either. Instead, a window opens to open a link in the browser!

Of course, as we all know, all websites and graphics always remain accessible via the same link...

And what about reading outdoors with the Kindle? There's always the Wi-Fi network, right?

Absolutely unbelievable how this Third World staff is ruining everything.

It'a a confusing word when isolated all by itself without any context.

Books I want to read?

Or books that I have read?

They should come up with a more precise word, one without any inherent ambiguity.

Another 3rd worldist beauty:

Amazon Kindle account: with deactivated SYNCHRONIZATION and ARCHIVING of documents:

When going online with the Colorsoft documents appear in the list, but are not downloaded - to download you need to tip again...
Hey, reading something and activateing Wi-Fi for automatic downloading?

3rd worldist developers see no problem to being forced to stop reading, go into the uncategorized directory and tip on all the documents to download and then return to reading...

And: deleting read documents - WI-FI necessary! - although deactivated archive and sync...

I see no problem with having to stop reading to download. Thing is, you don't need what you are trying to download because you won't be reading it while you are reading something else.

Imagine having to read dozens of articles, that need high concentration, every single day.
I see a problem being so dumb, not even to understand how horrible it is, to remove the transparent download in the background.

Maybe the problems of 5.19.2 will be fixed in 5.19.3.
