Again, Dangerous Visions (The Dangerous Visions Series) by Harlan Ellison is $2 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
A follow-up to the original groundbreaking collection, Again, Dangerous Visions features forty-six short stories from giants of the science fiction genre.

Grand Master of the Science Fiction Writers of America and winner of countless awards—including the Hugo, Nebula, Edgar Allan Poe, and Bram Stoker—Harlan Ellison proved once more that he was both unpredictable and irrepressible in this second collection of innovative science fiction. Again, Dangerous Visions—the middle installment in a planned three anthology series—includes award-winning stories from incomparable writers such as Ursula K. Le Guin, Gene Wolfe, Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut, Piers Anthony, Dean Koontz, and James Tiptree, among many others.

Unprecedented and electrifying, Again, Dangerous Visions cemented Harlan Ellison’s legacy as the ultimate sci-fi anthologist.

Loads of Anne and/or Todd McCaffrey "Pern" ebooks on sale at £2.99 on Kobo UK.
IMO the later ones (even by just Anne) aren't as good as the first 6 or so, but some may like to have the complete set? Not sure what is really a complete set.

Dragon's Code by Gigi McCaffrey doesn't seem to be on ebook, though Kobo & Amazon have the audio book.

There is a Pern story in "Get off the Unicorn", which is still £5.99 on Kobo. It's a collection of 14 short stories incorrectly listed on Amazon as part of the "Tower and the Hive".

I just had a look and they are the same £2.99 at Amazon UK.

At Kobo UK, they have the name of the series all wrong. Kobo is calling it The Dragon Books when it's Dragonriders of Pern. However, in the US, the series name is correct at Kobo UK. Amazon doesn't know what to call the series.

And Amazon is playing it's stupid games again. This is just a sample.

Dragonflight: an awe-inspiring epic fantasy from one of the most influential fantasy and SF novelists of her generation: 1 (The Dragon Books, 1)

Dragonquest: A captivating and breathtaking epic fantasy from one of the most influential fantasy and SF novelists of her generation (Dragonriders of Pern Book 2)

Dragonsdawn: (Dragonriders of Pern: 9): discover Pern in this masterful display of storytelling and worldbuilding from one of the most influential SFF writers of all time… (The Dragon Books)

Are you really sure? It includes stories with Rowan and Damia (I have the paperback. IIRC there was even some confusion that led to the title)

Yes, it does have two short stories later expanded into two longer novels in the Tower & Hive. It's 14 stories. I have or had the paperback somewhere. I have all the "Talents of Earth" (Triolgy) and the "Tower and the Hive" (a sequel series of five). "Get off the Unicorn" isn't in a series.

Quote:
Contents:
"Lady in the Tower" (The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, April 1959)
"A Meeting of Minds" (The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction, January 1969)
"Daughter" (The Many Worlds of Science Fiction, October 1971)
"Dull Drums" (Future Quest, September 1973)
"Changeling" (original to this collection)
"Weather on Welladay" (Galaxy Science Fiction, March 1969)
"The Thorns of Barevi" (The Disappearing Future: A Symposium of Speculation, 1970)
"Horse from a Different Sea" (original to this collection)
"The Great Canine Chorus" (Infinity One, January 1970)
"Finder's Keeper" (The Haunt of Horror, August 1973)
"A Proper Santa Claus" (Demon Kind, March 1973)
"The Smallest Dragonboy" (Science Fiction Tales, 1973)
"Apple" (Crime Prevention in the 30th Century, 1969)
"Honeymoon" (original to this collection)
Relation to McCaffrey's series

"Lady in the Tower" was expanded to become The Rowan (1990) and "A Meeting of Minds" was incorporated into Damia (1992). Both books are in McCaffrey's "Tower and the Hive" series.
"Daughter" and "Dull Drums" share the character of Nora Fenn.
A modified version of "The Thorns of Barevi" became the beginning of Freedom's Landing, the first book in the Catteni series.
"The Smallest Dragonboy" is set on Pern at the time of the Ninth Pass: it was later reprinted in A Gift of Dragons (2002).
"Apple" is set in McCaffrey's "Talents" universe and was previously incorporated into To Ride Pegasus (1973).
"Honeymoon" "ties up the loose end" of Helva & Niall's story (from The Ship Who Sang (1969))
—Wikipedia

Get of the Unicorn does have a totally different meaning!

"The Smallest Dragonboy" is also one of four stories in "A Gift of Dragons". No ebook. Audio only on CD (which is inferior to cassette or mp3 for ebooks).

Actually, The Smallest Dragonboy is available for free from BAEN.

https://www.baen.com/Chapters/978147...781617___3.htm

And yes, A Gift of Dragons is available as an eBook. I can get it from Overdrive as an eBook no problem.

All actual "Red book" Audio CDs are lossless. But a CD doesn't remember the "reading" position and even a 1963 cassette player is good enough for audio books. Later pocket/walkman players far better. A CD is the best format for music and the worst for audio books! Almost all cassette players were/are better than AM Radio.

Also you can put Braille labels direct on a cassette. Generic Walkmans are still sold as are blank tapes.
