ERROR: Failed: Restoring database failed (calibre, version 9.5.0)

Can anyone advise what I should do with the following error?

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\db\restore.py", line 340, in replace_db
File "shutil.py", line 916, in move
shutil.Error: Destination path 'C:\Users\name\OneDrive\Calibre Cloud Library\.calnotes-staging\.calnotes' already exists

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\db\restore.py", line 156, in run
File "calibre\db\restore.py", line 345, in replace_db
File "shutil.py", line 916, in move

Not store your library on OneDrive? See the item in the calibre FAQ and the item on SQLite's webpage about SQLite not being designed for network attached storage.

It's not a question of if but rather when a calibre library stored on a network drive will have issues.

Close calibre and copy your library to your local hard drive in an area which is not being synced to OneDrive. Detach your OneDrive copy, connect to your local copy and try repairing it.

Thank you DNSB. I made a "not-on-OneDrive" copy as you suggested and it restores fine.

I kept my OneDrive copy and when I "check library" it says there are no errors but it cannot perform the restore database function. The copy "not-on-OneDrive" is able to restore the database.

I will keep two copies exactly the same as a backup in case the OneDrive copy corrupts but I need to be able to access even if my computer at home is shut down.

I use calibesync and content server to keep my list of books up to date then I open them via my OneDrive app.

I do keep backups of my calibre libraries in multiple places including cloud storage but most of those are archived backups and are not intended for any purpose other than being restored to local storage if needed. I do have a one way sync from calibre to Dropbox which I use with my tablet which sounds like your need for a remotely accessible library.
