I can do the same with library books when borrowing from OverDrive.
It could be a full version of ADE that Pocketbook is using since it can handle the ASCM files to get ePub.

in their response to me earlier (on page 1 of this thread) pocketbook stated they will also sell on amazon, which might be an option for you. Another vendor that I used was grooves.land to get my pb inkpad color 3 and inkpad eo - they were fast, reliable, and low cost; I probably can't use them anymore because of the us trade craziness, so I'll wait for it to arrive on amazon even though they are the last vendor I would deal with.

pdurrant - I like your list of books read.
Have looked through several of the years.
The ones you have rated 9/10 or 5/5 are ones that I like as well.
So your lists look like being a good way of finding books.

My reply to your post is off topic and so please move it to another forum if necessary.

The specs look nice, but I hate that Pocketbook branding on the front of the device.

Looks nice. Yes I would like to have one, but what holds me back is the lack of buttons and not IPX rating.

You get your choice of with or without front light.
That should make someone happy?

LOL...Android 15 in 2026 and only Carta 1200 plus only an active stylus. Well, if they sell it for 200 Euros that would be ok, but it's more like 420/450 Euro on ereader.store. Oh, and only 4 GB RAM and 64 GB memory, no microSDcard slot. For 420/450 Euros...seriously?

Why could Viwoods put Android 16 on a device in 2025 but Boox can not do it in 2026?

And what does nonsense like "As your mindful second brain, the Go 10.3 (Gen II) series tablets bridge the gap between digital power and mental peace." mean? "Mental peace" thanks to a eink device? What drugs do they take at Boox or what rubbish AI do they use?

Well, as long as we're slinging mud...

I'm going to buy the "Viwoods AiPaper Reader" because it has an AI button!

But seriously. I had never heard of Viwoods. Their products seem slick but I don't dig the aspect ration on the ereader.

And chasing Android versions? My Onyx Boox Go6 is on Android 11 and I can't think of what drop-dead feature that I need that is only available on higher versions. The bloat creep in Android is a juggernaut.

And some of the Viwoods' products are listed as Android 13 anyway.

I have that one, and I immediately disabled this button.
It’s the worst of my mobile E Ink devices (5), and I only use it when I need a particularly slim device - in my opinion, a EInk smartphone! without a speaker is absolutely idiotic.
Oh, and one more thing: the last Android version that makes sense for large E-Ink devices is 12 - it has a movable divider for split-screen mode. All newer versions require more powerful hardware, which means larger batteries, and thus more weight and higher power consumption.
My favorite large E Ink devices feature Mobius and Wacom screens - the Pocketbook Inkpad X Pro (Android 8.1, 10.3) and the Boox Max Lumi 2 (Android 11, 13.3)

Why would you want Android 16? Android 15 only came out a year ago, and it's a perfectly fine operating system. It's arguably superior to Android 16 since Google hadn't baked the screw-you-pay-us developer 'verification' fee into 15.

I will never understand people who assume that newest is always best.

Because in the past it was mostly true.
Now that Android is mostly mature it's a stretch to come up with something new.
What great improvements have come to Excel in the last decade?

SailfishOS had multitasking in 2013 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sailfish_OS), meaning also that if a video application was on background the video might continue playing too.
Not to mention the scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla glass curved on the edges for the Nokia N9 and its swipe gestures (2012).

Long before Sailfish back in the heyday of 8 bit microprocessors, there were multitasking OS available.

On a mobile phone, or tablet?
