The latest Humble Bundle is for the Leaphorn & Chee (& Manuaelito) novels by Tony & Anne Hillerman.
https://www.humblebundle.com/books/t...rcollins-books Activatable on Kobo. Ostensibly for US residents only, but if you have access to a VPN or other proxy, you can use it to change your location in the settings, and then go back to your regular internet connnection. |

Tempting bundle - what's involved to make Kobo books readable on Kindle?

Use the Calibre ACSM input plugin to redeem the book, the DeDRM plugin to decrypt it, and then Calibre's conversion tools to change the EPUB into a Kindle format.

The last step isn't needed if you use Amazon's Send To Kindle webpage or app. Then you just send the ePub and Amazon does the conversion.

Thank you -are more detailed instructions somewhere? I installed ACSM but don't see it in the interface like Overdrive or Import List? Also don't see DeDRM in the list of available plugins?
I have a Kobo account with some free books I'd like to try prepping for Send to Kindle to see how well this works. |

While the current release of ASCM Input (0.0.16) works, you'd be better off (IMO) using the beta 1.0 which can be downloaded from here: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...98#post4572198 |

Thanks again, but first need help figuring out how to use ACSM - I installed but don't see it anywhere in Calibre interface?
I've been using Overdrive and Import List for years but otherwise pretty clueless about plugins... |

You'll find the ACSM Input Plugin under File type plugins. Select it and then click the Customize plugin button. You'll need to allow the plugin to create an Adobe ID account for you, I think. It's been a while since I set this up. Ask in the plugin's thread if you have problems. |

It would be a great bundle if I didn't already have all of them. Sigh! In fact, Sacred Clowns was the first e-book I ever bought, from Fictionwise, and I read it on my laptop (!!!) on the plane back from a cross-country business trip. I guess you always remember your first
. But the reason I'm really posting is that when I was talking with one of my friends the other day about this series, she mentioned that someone is serializing it in video, and she thinks the serialization is quite good. She said the video series was called "Dark Wind", which is also the title of the fifth book in the book series. I think she said it was on AMC, but I watch pretty much zero video series, so I could be wrong. Anyway, for folks who like both books and video... I've always liked this series because my dad's family is from the US Southwest. But I also have found the plots to be puzzling (although there was one where I had, by pure chance, specialized pre-knowledge that made it obvious), the writing to be smooth, and the characters seem to deal in very believable ways with a lot of challenges resulting from the mix of cultures. |

I haven't read any of the books but the first 2 seasons of Dark Winds were pretty good. IIRC it won an award for most executive producers in a TV series?

Annoyingly, when I came to redeem the Hillerman bundle, it only gave me 27 books to select not 30. Now I can't get the missing 3. Waiting for HumbleBundle support to respond...
Got them now. There seems to be an issue with the redemption page; it doesn't always include all 30 titles so you need to refresh it if it doesn't before redeeming... Last edited by maddz; Yesterday at 03:21 PM. |

It's an input plugin. It has no UI, except for setting up your (fake) Adobe account. On your Kobo account, click the 3 dots under your book, then click the download option. You'll get an ACSM file. Open Calibre, click the Add Books button, and then select the ACSM file. Calibre will redeem the book from Adobe, and then the DeDRM plugin will decrypt it (once you set up DeDRM with your Adobe key). The decrypted book will then be added to your library.

I was confused by the Adobe involvement, thought Kobo ebooks were already epubs. |
