Can't upgrade version
I am currently using version 5.36 and my software shows that 9.4.0 is available. However, over the last few years, whenever I have tried to upgrade, it won't run after the install. I'm using an up-to-date laptop with Windows 11. Any idea why I can't get a new version to run? Thanks

Did you ever try running calibre from Windows Safe mode, third party start up utilities (including 'anti-virus' whatnots) and shell extensions are the most frequent cause of these sort of problems.

Is this a Graphics driver issue? Have you updated the Graphics Driver (some need touse the Manufacturers site version, if W11 does not update it)

With calibre 9, the graphics driver is irrelevant because the graphic drive is not used by default. It can be turned on in Tweaks but it won't be on when you first run calibre 9.

Try installing the portable version of 9.x. See if that works in case the problem is something with your configuration directory.

Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. Today, version 9.5.0 was available and when I installed it, it opened right up and ran perfectly. Not sure what changed, but it's working now :-)
