The firmware updated automatically, and suddenly all ebooks sent to the device via SendToKindle are displaying error messages. Also, MOBI format comics don't open in full screen; the page-turning animations are gone, and there are no options to enable full screen or page-turning animations. I then deleted the books from both my device and my Amazon account, copied them from my local machine, but the error persists. Even logging into another account doesn't solve the problem. The only current solution is to restore factory settings, then immediately enable airplane mode on the home screen, and then copy the books and comics to read them normally. However, this has a very annoying problem: every time I exit reading, a registration/login window pops up. I suspect Amazon is doing this intentionally! Sorry for rambling, I just wanted to ask everyone, after updating to the latest version, how can I ensure that I can still read books and comics normally after logging into my Amazon account?

thanks
I'll definitely choose to use my Kindle and don't want the hassle of getting a new device. Version 5.19.2 doesn't currently support jailbreaking, so if I have no other option, I'll have to endure the registration and login pop-ups and wait for a jailbreak for this version to arrive, then downgrade to the older firmware. Because before upgrading to 5.19.2, these problems didn't exist.

If you are using KCC to create your comics, you could alternatively convert to PDF and upload those via amazon.com/sendtokindle.
But you lose features like right to left mode, etc, so it's not ideal. (There's also a separate KCC thread a few posts down where you can read more discussions on this topic.) Edit to below comment: Amazon can remotely activate features, so even if you are 5.19.2, the bug might not be activated for you yet. Last edited by axu2; Yesterday at 11:51 PM. |

Well, my Colorsoft SE is on firmware 5.19.2 and all my Send to Kindle books seem to be working fine. Maybe just a one time glitch on your Kindle?

Many people have this problem. And I have tried many times, but there is still a problem. As soon as I log in to the account, the books and comics on the device will immediately report an error. It should be that Amazon has manipulated it through cloud control.

If you are side loading comics, KFX (via Kindle Create and KFX Output plugin) is an alternative that does work. |

Also if you chose to use AZW3, you should choose the 'Enable sharing...' option in Output options so that content type is Personal Document. Otherwise it thinks it's an Amazon purchase, wants to try syncing it and may be why it is giving an error. If you are using Kindle Comic Converter, make sure you have current version, which also (in recent versions) sets this flag to personal document (PDOC). Also calibre does not support fixed layout ePub: if you convert these to AZW3 with calibre they will not be properly formatted. Also, there were reports of issues with fixed layout AZW3 prior to this update (perhaps this was just with Scribes). I played around with it a few months ago and reproduced some of these. But again, if you use KFX comic format you will not have any issues with side loading. This requires using command line interface for KFX Output and more manual steps but you can find a guide here (specifically in reponse to 5.19.2): https://www.reddit.com/r/kindle/comm...d_update_5192/ But of course this is a regression and Amazon is obligated to fix it. Kindles are supposed to support AZW3 format properly. Last edited by tomsem; Today at 02:18 PM. |
