Sigil 2.7.5 Released
Sigil 2.7.5
Sigil 2.7.5 is a mixture of bugfixes and new features. New Features
Bug Fixes
--------------------------------Notes ----------------------------------- It's possible that Windows users may need to update their Visual Studio VC++ Redistributable runtimes if Sigil doesn't run. The Sigil Linux AppImage is built on Ubuntu Jammy (22.04) and is targeting glibc 2.35 and higher. Use ldd --version to see if your system at least has a shot at being able to use the AppImage. Don't forget to make sure the AppImage is executable after downloading. Trouble is not expected but be safe and backup your existing Sigil preferences (if you have any) before trying the AppImage. The latest version of the Sigil User Guide can always be downloaded from the Sigil website, or from its own GitHub repository. Please check the Sigil website for important Sigil support links, additional resource downloads, and platform-specific trouble-shooting tips/requirements. The MacOS builds are signed AND notarized. PGP Fingerprint (for signed tags and source archives): B5A5 6206 AB0F BC1A 24EF AB8A A166 D29A 8FCD AC63 All Sigil binary (and source) downloads can also be found as assets at the bottom of The Sigil-2.7.5 Github Release page. It is interesting to note that downloads of the MacOS Sigil Intel (x86_64j release are just 1/9th of the downloads of the Mac OS Sigil Apple Silicon/M* (arm64).
My guess in a year or two, the intel build downloads will be negligible or gone. For a while there the intel downloads lead, then they moved to 50/50 and now almost all arm64. |

Hello.
Not all translation strings were included in release 2.7.5. However, the translation in version 2.7.5 (RC3) was complete. |

That doesn't seem possible. The RC candidate was built on an older tree. We certainly didn't remove any translations from the official release. In fact a couple of last minutes changes were pulled in.
What are you using? Windows, AppImage, macOS? I clearly remember pulling all changes to my local repos before creating the Windows/AppImage 2.7.5 builds, but I will double-check to be certain. Last edited by DiapDealer; Today at 11:10 AM. |

The uk_UA translation was just updated on March 12 (today) according to Transifex. That came *after* our release tagging and builds were made.
I updated translations from transifex on March 8 and March 9. Any changes made after that on Transifex would have to wait for the next release. So as far as I can tell, all translations were up to date when the tagging was done and release builds were made. Last edited by KevinH; Today at 11:28 AM. |

The translations I'm referring to were completed a long time ago and were definitely included in test builds.
Today, while testing, I actually translated two strings for the About window. |

If they were completed a long time ago then they should have been pulled in when we updated all Translations from Transifex on March 8.
And according to our github history, the sigil_uk.ts was updated 4 days ago on March 8 as expected. So perhaps Transifex had some issues and restored from a back up or something else on Transifex end was done. We followed our established release procedures. Here's a screenshot of version 2.7.5 (RC3).
Everything is translated here. |

And according to the commit diff here for sigil_uk.ts you can see that many of your easilier translations are actually being *undone* on March 8 compared to what was in the tree earlier.
https://github.com/Sigil-Ebook/Sigil...07ec19c5a7a6cf So somehow on March 8, when I asked Transifex to send me a zip archive of all Sigil translations, they generated an earlier version for sigil_uk_UA.ts (and probably russian for some reason). Very very strange. Since this is Windows, you should be able to hand generate using qt language tools the proper qm file and install it. That should work with both Windows and the AppImage. Unfortunately since the MacOS is signed and notarized the user can not manually update the files. I have no idea what went on with Transifex here but the other languages that were 100% translated still are. Last edited by KevinH; Today at 11:58 AM. |

It IS unusual for existing strings to go from finished to unfinished. The vast number of translations downloaded on March 8 only show line number changes for existing strings. Somebody on Transifex in charge of those few languages must have done something very wrong.

After the RC3, the only real change to Sigil's codebase was the fix for Sigil not running in Windows Safe Mode. That would have affected zero translations (as it was a Python file). The rest were changes to allow the Windows installer to utilize dark mode. Certainly no changes that would cause two languages to "untranslate" already finished strings on Transifex.
@Kevin: any chance we can pull in those translation changes made on Transifex today? It would be nice to know that it represents them fixing what was lost. |

I will pull them into master today.
Update: Did a full update from Transifex for today and then asked git what files changed: Here is the list: modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_ar.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_ca.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_de.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_en.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_es.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_fi.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_fr.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_it.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_ja.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_nl.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_pl.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_ru.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_sr.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_tr.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_uk.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_zh_CN.ts modified: src/Resource_Files/ts/sigil_zh_TW.ts Since I know I updated things as late as March 9th, I just can not see why anything has changed since then inside Sigil. No idea what is going on at Transifex. Something is very very strange. I have pushed the very latest .ts files to Sigil master. Not sure what to do about this.
