Copy Calibre setup and selected books to new device

I'd like to copy my Calibre setup (preferences, Overdrive Libby key, etc.) and selected books to a USB stick and then to a new computer.

https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...ter-to-another starts with right clicking the Calibre icon on the toolbar, but I don't seem to have a Calibre icon.

Will copying metadata.db and metadata_db_prefs_backup.json from my library, plus the book folders I want, work?

You'll need to copy your configuration folder too.

Export-import is the best way to move everything from one computer to another, and you need the calibre icon for this. Go to Preferences -> Toolbars and menus, and take a look at what you have on your toolbars.

It's should be the icon you use to choose your library:

C:\Users\xyz\AppData\Roaming\calibre is the configuration folder? I'm going to a mac so copy to ~/Library/Preferences/calibre?

Exactly which toolbar and menu item do I want? I'm not seeing Export-import in either the main toolbar list or the menu bar list in Preferences

Is there a way to move only selected books? I suppose I could send everything to a USB stick, then open that and delete everything I don't want to move over.

I have the feeling I'm missing the obvious.

Aha. It's Calibre library in the main toolbar list.

The main remaining question is how to copy only selected books rather than the entire library. I only want to copy a small portion of the library.

Create a new library on my current machine and only add selected books to that?
