Inkpad 4 doesn't have an internal SD card. The secure partition is only visible if the device is rooted. It is never visible if the device is plugged in via USB.

I am not that interested. I was just poking around as one does.

However, this discussion distracted me on the reason I visited this thread in the first place. I use the Wiktionary English dictionary (dicthtml-en-en-noetym) on my Kobo to supplement the OED. While not as good as the OED for traditional English, its brilliant for Pop Culture. Compared to this combination, I found Pocketbook Websters dictionary; wanting. So, I am searching for a better English dictionary. Wiktionary would be ideal.

The problem is, the English dictionaries pointed to in the thread appear to be for KOReader. However, I just can't get on with KOReader. So I am looking for an English dictionary (in dic format?) for the native Pocketbook readers.

Search this forum for RS-Wiktionary to find the version created by Ronnie Steiner in 2012. He combined the wiktionary and Websters into one version with almost 500,000 entries. I guess it is not up-to-date for the latest pop culture references, but it is probably the best you will get. It took him many days of computer time to compile the dictionary, which probably explains why it hasn't been updated since.

Thanks for the pointer. I had no problems installing it and it's working well. I am now in the process of evaluating how good a dictionary it is. Which may take a while.

I am a user of the PocketBook Era and I am looking for a Czech-Ukrainian dictionary in .dic format.
Currently, I am using a 'cz-ru.dic' file which works fine technically, but I desperately need a translation into Ukrainian instead. Since there is no official dictionary from the manufacturer, I was wondering if any of the experts here could help convert a Czech-Ukrainian database (like Wiktionary or StarDict) into a compatible .dic file for PocketBook?
This would be a huge help for many Ukrainians currently living in the Czech Republic.

@Dimatol86 As posted before, I am willing to help with format conversions. I don't take requests for dictionaries, though. Wiktionary cannot be converted with my script, iirc. So you'll have to convert that to another format, e.g. CSV, stardict. Keep us posted with your progress.

Hi,

It looks like it does not exist at all. PB support confirmed that they do not have it as an optional download.

I have it in MOBI format, and it worked well on my Kindle.

Please point me if Ukrainian-Ukrainian Explanatory in DIC format exists or if I can convert it somehow MOBI -> DIC.

@pLEX mobi-format is freestyle when converted to HTML and than to DiC with my script. Sometimes it can be converted, sometimes you would have to extend the code.

Did you run it through my script, already?

@pLEX i ran the 3 mobi-files through the script and none was correctly parsed.

The ExplanatoryUkUk.mobi file only had trouble splitting the lines, so that could be remedied with some extra coding.

Hello everyone,

I spent a few weeks recently reverse engineering the binary format as well as converter.exe. It turns out to be ridiculously easy these days: one can just open the executable in Ghidra, decompile it into (unreadable) C code, then ask an LLM to decipher it - even free Gemini chat is good enough for this.

I then vibe-coded (in Antigravity if you wonder) a file format converter that supports XDXF / StarDict / PocketBook .dic. It's available in CLI and web UI versions. Go is compiled to WASM, so it's served statically, all processing happens in the browser. The CLI tool also can create new dictionaries from pre-processed Wiktionary data (kaikki.org).
