The first point on the original post you responded to also covers getting ebooks from anywhere, I’ll grant I didn’t go into specifics of using calibre web or kobo uncaged etc however as others had mentioned alternative methods of sending I felt it would certainly have been a known and covered topic.
There are very few options of syncing sideloaded books between devices. Calibre-Web seems to be the only one at the moment, and that requires more tinkering and more technical expertise than many people possess or want to bother with. Heck, I don't want to bother with it either, after reading the instructions.

There are more options of sending books wirelessly, yes, but they don't sync the reading progress, which is the main draw of Send to Kindle.

I’ll just repeat myself at this point because that’s what this has become. Giving up security for convenience is for the fools.

People do it all the time. You could argue that most of the internet is built on this principle. Using social media, Google and Microsoft products/services, e-commerce, online banking, cloud syncing - all this is essentially giving up security for convenience. This has never been a deterrent. People want convenience and there's no stopping them.
