Mark books finished in Calibre

Apologies if this has been answered, I did look and couldn't find anything, I've even looked for videos and tutorials. I've found a couple but no luck.

I consider myself fairly computer literate, not program writing wise but using. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to have Calibre have a column which would signify a book is finished when I connect my Kobo Clara.
Right now I have quite a few books on my Kobo that I've finished and marked as such but I'd like to have them noted as such when I connect to Calibre. It could say "Yes/No" under a read column, "100% finished" or a percentage of, I don't care whichever is easier.

I can make the column but that's where it ends, no joy when I connect my Clara. No doubt once I can figure it out I'll be embarrassed as all get out :-)....Mike

Install the plugin Kobo Utilities, if you haven't yet. It has an option Store/restore reading positions.

You still have to create a custom column for storing the position first. Here's a guide.

Hi rantaplan, thanks for the reply.
I've done that.....numerous times, I end up with the new column that I've titled 'Read?' but I don't get any info in that column when I connected my Kobo, either yes or no. Is there a refresh I have to activate?

I do
A couple of screenshots of my setup.
As an example, I've completed all 7 novels in the Lincoln Lawyer series and they are marked finished in my Kobo but not in Calibre.

Did you customize the plugin? You need to enter your column name in the plugin options and check the box "Store current reading position on connect".

Did you ALSO configure the KU profiles (tab) with the column to use?

Sorry guys, I'm being a complete dumazz here. Appreciate you sticking with me tho....so far LOL.
I have made a bit of progress. I can now manually add yes or no to my Read column manually by going into custom metadata and selecting it.

Do you have Kobo Utilities installed? Have you customized its settings? Unless you do that, there'll be no auto-filling your read column.

And the column must not be yes/no. Here are my settings.
