9.4.0 viewer metadata font too dark
When I use the viewer to show the book's metadata, with any viewer color setting, I get an info screen with unreadable details (dark background and extreem dark font). I can select the text to show that the info is there.
Is there some setting to change the meta data text font? |

I tried to repro, out of curiosity, but couldn't reproduce in any viewer color setting (sepia, system, whatever). Never noticed calibre gets that info from <dc:description>. I always thought that was the #comments column.

Comments/comments (no hash) is calibrese for dc.description, like Tags/tags is calibrese for dc:subjects.
I can reproduce, with Sepia Light and never. |

What I meant is that, if you have the Comments column populated (different content), calibre will get the dc:description instead: |

I create Comments column clones according to the display format I need, such as trimmed, non-trimmed... currently I have comment2, and comments3. This way I can get my Author Bio column, by checking its 'Show with comments in Book Details, display on the right. -- Here is another example of what I said about the dc description: The comments, in that case, were fetched from online metadata providers. As i said, what I hadn't noticed is that calibre is using dc:description in viewer metadada. |

AFAIK - the viewer only displays Dublin core elements, if you want custom columns to be eyeball-able in an EPUB you can use a jacket - Modify EPUB has an option to put them at the back.

Yes. And regarding the OP observation, I wonder if the dark issue occurs with other books.

If your comments specify their own colors then that can happen. Check the HTML for it. And if you want to see the contents of the comments column rather than what is inside the EPUB's OPF use the embed metadata too to updatethe EPUB before viewing it.
