@rpresser please never use an image host and especially don't ever use imgr. imgr does not work in the UK and it's constantly over capacity. I'm not able to see your image because imgr is over capacity..
Edit your post, go to advanced settings and attach your image instead. Remove the link that doesn't work most of the time. Then use the paperclip to post a thumbnail and all will be well. |

Crappy of Amazon to make even the self-publisher with one older book have to set as DRM-free again. Better to get books direct or from places that actually respect the publishers intention to sell DRM-free.

which is just as easy or easier than uploading to some random spyware infested third party site and make a link that will eventually expire and may have numerous problems that JSWolf has pointed out many times before. |

The problem is that imgr doesn't work in the UK and a lot of the time, it's overloaded. So for a lot of people, there's no way to see the image. The other problem with image hosts is that the images expire. So even if they are viable, eventually, they won't be. This is why attacking works because the images are visible and they don't expire.

As far as I can tell, Imgpur (imgr) links work from Canada. I quote the message and copy paste the link into a new browser tab. They do not permit 3rd party links as far as I can tell so no embedding links in a web page.

I've tried a VPN to Canada when imgr is overloaded in the US. The problem is that anyone without a VPN who either lives in the UK or has imgr overloaded are out of luck.

It seems that downloads aren't available on books one has access to via Kindle family sharing as opposed to directly on one's own account. My father got the 2020 Tor collection some years back, and thus the collection is in my library, but it's not showing up with a download option. But its store page only lists the "read now" button and not the "buy now" button, since it's in my library, so there's no way for me to buy it myself in order to gain access to downloads on it. Yet Another way in which Amazon's implementation of the downloads here is impressively half-baked.
(I 'bought' the 2021 Tor collection for $0, just now, as a control in case the problem was that my account somehow didn't have downloads enabled more broadly; but that one shows the download option without issue, just as shown in the screenshots earlier in the thread. So it seems to be specifically a family-sharing problem.) |

Since MR no attachments in PMs, I uploaded to imgur - putting in [img] tags broke it because it changed then url. Direct link worked though.
