Downloaded the file. ScrambleEbook replaces images with dummy images the same dimensions since many images could be copyrighted as well.
OTOH, when I look at the scrambled ebook's style sheet (style.css), it is empty. The ebook seems to use only 5 styles (style0, style1, style2, style3 and style4) but they are not defined anywhere in the ePub. The image used as a separator in the chapters (the 3 dots) is 42px by 7px but the only CSS is the inline height: "100%" Code:
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img src="../Images/image-359764T3.jpg" alt="Image" height="100%"/>
</div>

Can I fix that by defining styles? I'd have to learn, but I can look at other books to see what to do, right?
This isn't the first book that has had this problem (stretching to fill the page). I find it extremely annoying, so I really want to fix it. |

As to how this book lost the contents of the CSS stylesheet? That is an interesting question. I suspect the original was downloaded as a KFX and converted and the loss happened during the conversion.

Conversion from KFX doesn't delete the css, unless you convert to txt. I convert from KFX to epub all the time. Nothing like this has ever happened.

I've seen a similar effect once using an old version of KFXInput and an error occurred during the conversion. When I set to continue on error, I got a somewhat similar effect. I don't know where the book originated from since most of the identifiers in the .opf are from calibre and metadata downloads.

I did as pdurrant and DNSB suggested, but only for the image in question and I just removed the 100%. It looks fine now. Thank you! TIL to examine both the css and html.
I have no idea why the epub had no css. That's how I rec'd it. A sample from Amz has css. Just as an experiment, I converted the sample to epub and tried copying the css to the epub book. As I'm sure you all expected, it failed to make any change. |

@Ma'am-I-Am where did this eBook come from and what format was it in originally before the calibre conversion?
