Doing a search on Kobo UK, I get 57 results for Anne McCaffrey. Doing the same search on Kobo US, I get 73 results. I filtered out audiobooks.

I've not looked at Larry Niven.

67 Anne McCaffrey on Amazon.co.uk (author page, language = English, format = Kindle). 83 on Amazon.com.

It may be something to do with Penguin UK.

It seems to be more something to do with Kobo; both stores are missing 10 books (which I leave to the imagination).

At Amazon, you can sometimes get results in a language other then English. Did you check that they are all English books at Amazon.com?

I just had a look and it's actually 81 books. 2 are incorrect. The Peter Pan book and the Political Economy book. are incorrectly listed.

For me using Amazon.ca, a search on Anne McCaffrey, english, kindle came up with 107 results. Scanning through those results, 36 of them were not by Anne McCaffrey or Todd McCaffrey. Books such as Patricia C. Wrede's Dealing With Dragons Margaret Weis's Mistress of Dragons, The Constitution of Canada by The Founding Fathers.

Switching to clicking on Anne McCaffrey in the author list for a book, english, kindle dropped the number of books to 81 though this included books such as Principles of Political Economy by Wilhelm Roscher and Peter Pan by James M. Barrie and several anthologies in which an Anne McCaffrey story is found.

I did find it rather humorous that both Kobo and Amazon (.ca and .com) included Peter Pan in a list of Anne McCaffrey books.

Oddly a quick Google search for an Anne McCaffrey bibliography came up with several listings that I found better including WikiPedia's entry.

To me, this pretty much proves that if you want decent search results, use a search engine that is not tied to the store you are searching.

OMG I have 40 of hers just in my paper library. Many were first read in the pages of Analog (SF&F) /

Finding good sources NOT tied to stores is getting harder. Just look at the bottom of many a Amazon page.
Those are the ones they own. There are more they have their (link) hooks into...solidly.
Fantastic Fiction used to be my solid for Series Metadata, Now it is iffy (cloud flare blocking AI bots?).

Fantastic Fiction is still a good source. But you can't use it automatically because you'll get crap you have to have hand edit. That goes any any source for metadata.
