Today I noticed any book that I get metadata for from Amazon in a series that the series book number is incorrect
i.e. I get metadata for book #2 of series XYZ (8 total books in this series) The metadata Calibre gets from Amazon says its book #8 Every book in any series the Amazon metadata returns the incorrect book number. (# = # of last book in series) I assume the parsing of the metadata needs a tweak. I am still using Calibre 8.16.2. (I will wait a couple more months to be sure the bugs are worked out of 9 before upgrading.) Last edited by JohnnyBook; 02-16-2026 at 03:08 PM. |

I have no way of knowing. I would have assumed it was a Amazon metadata parsing issue as opposed to a Calibre issue.
This appeaers only when Amazon is the metadata source. If the source comes from Goodreads And Amazon it is correct |

So why not go for 9.x? It won't be any worse.

9.0 has been out for 2 weeks, I generally wait a month or two before switching to major version changes. (In all programs, not just Calibre.)

For what it may be worth, I've had issues with series indexes from Amazon for quite a while now. The series index seems to be stuck at 1 or the last number in the series.

One item I forgot to mention is that the series index is coming from Amazon. For calibre, it GIGO.

Lost Coast: A Post-Apocalyptic Zombie Thriller by Camille Picott
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B082D76DHS This is book 3 but Calibre's matadata from Amazon returns book 4 (The last book in the series) which is "Fort Dead" The GoodReads metadata returns #3 But it comes up on a separate line. Most entries where the Amazon and GoodReads are combined to the same line in the metadata selection screen returns the correct Series # |
