It does black level correction by default, no options checked. You can set it to be even more aggresive with the extreme black point option. But don't do it by default, only use it when needed.

That's the Scribe 2024. I prefer the black bezels of the Scribe 2022. The 2025 is not compatible right now with kcc.

Kobo Elipsa 2e is not 300 ppi like the Scribe. But honestly, it's probably fine. And you could put koreader on it.

I haven't looked into likebook.

Boox Go doesn't have a frontlight. Also koreader compatible.

Honestly, you could probably use koreader to fix the blacks too on all these devices. But the png filesize reductions by saving images in 16 color mode with kcc can be huge.

But the Scribe is the cheapest by far, especially if you stack a sale and trade in discount.

Thanks. I only found 1 local (not even Amazon help) auction for Scribe 2022 honestly a hard grab.

The Scribe 2022 has dark bezels. The 2024 has light. The 2025 depends on the model, but all lack the wide side bezel.

Your opinion, no frontlight means a sharper screen since no light layer. But makes reading in dim environments harder.

That is shonen jump magazine size, bigger than a scribe.

KCC processing can lower 300 MB Humble Bundle PDFs to 100 MB using png option. So koreader users use KCC too.

In the photo you posted, the screen is white. The outer border/bezel is dark. The bezel is not the screen.

It's just a preference, a wider bezel means you can hold it on that side without your fingers covering the screen.

It depends on the shade of white. Contrast perception is a well studied topic. https://www.cns.nyu.edu/~david/cours...-contrast.html

But basically a darker bezel around a white screen makes the human eye perceive more contrast compared to a white screen around a white bezel, even if the screens are the same. So the Scribe 2022 screen looks whiter.
