Hello,

an issue made me register here to report my observation of troubles with the Barnes&Noble metadata plugin.

Since several weeks and at least 2 iterations of the plugin code (and 1 or 2 Calibre updates), including the most recent 1.5.8 one, I don't get any data from Barnes&Noble imported in my books.

I'm a resident of Germany and not using a VNP service; the plugin doesn't retrieve any metadata, be it for a search with an ISBN for an English or a German book. Doing the search manually on the homepage works just fine, and manually adding the ID string makes a clickable link appear as expected which leads me to the B&N book page. It doesn't matter at which time of the day I'm trying, be it now (01:00 a.m. CET), in the morning, afternoon or evening: there are no metadata offered.

I'm also using the most recent Calibre version, 9.2.1 at the time of writing.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this?

Unfortunately B&N have stepped up their anti-scraping measures too, it is not as simple as just bumping up the user-agent header this time. I don't have time to look into this and this isn't a plugin I personally use so it is going to require a contribution from someone to get this working again (like the Fantastic Fiction plugin which remains broken). The "good times" may be coming to an end for metadata scraping for our libraries...
