Reading in Bed - the tools and accesories you use
Recently, I find myself more and more reading in bed. I've been looking for accessories to make the experience better. Mostly, I've been looking at these types of clamping or floor-standing flexible tablet mounts that could hold my Libra H2O (a couple of image example included).
I also have a few questions regarding these types of accessories: 1. Have you tried these types of things? any recommendations? Are you using something else you can recommend? 2. Will it work OK with the Libra H2O since it has this non-flat asymmetrical shape? 3. Will it put the device at risk of screen cracking? The clamping mechanism is spring loaded, and It will be under this type of force (=compression) for extended periods of time. Last edited by Colonel Cathcart; Yesterday at 07:10 AM. |

Also, I would recommend something like this "pillow pad stand" (although not this particular one): https://www.amazon.com/dp/B091T25DDT The only thing that is a little problem is that there is no height adjustment. Edit: and in case it is helpful, I usually read for at least one hour a day in bed. Last edited by John F; Yesterday at 07:29 AM. |

When I read in bed, I hold my Libra 2 with my hand. I don't use any sort of stand to hold it.

I was thinking about laying flat on my back with the reader held above me, screen facing down. In theory, this sounds comfortable, doesn't it?

Lying flat on my back is one of the most uncomfortable positions I know. Ugh. I've never understood how folks are able to lie like that for extended periods.

I take my glasses off, and lay on either side, sort of propping my Paperwhite on the bed, with a pillow at the bottom of the device. No lights, holders, stands, etc.

One acquaintance of mine uses a floor standing holder placed beside the bed and a Bluetooth remote with their Kobo Libra Colour. Due to physical issues, hand holding the KLC for a long time is not doable. The floor standing holder is moved around as needed by their spouse.

I could see a holder like that being useful, but I'd be in danger of falling asleep fast lying on my back.
I like lying on the bed on my belly, ebook reader on the floor. Last edited by xor_; Yesterday at 06:04 PM. |

Our bed can be raised front and back. I usually have it about 35 to 45 degrees and rest my reader on my stomach. I find reading flat on my back very uncomfortable,

A floor lamp with swing/spring arms.
I mostly hold my reader 1 handed, with finger between the folded back cover and back of the reader. My index finger is free to tap the Page forward button. |

I find it much easier to read in a chair than in bed. If I can't sleep. I get out of bed and go to a chair. Faster. Cheaper. No fiddling around with other things and accessories. More comfortable. More convenient. YMMV. It would be different of course if getting into and out of bed was an issue.

This is exactly what I do, I don't have physical issues but I read for hours and it can become uncomfortable to hold even an e-reader for that long. The Kobo remote is a game changer for me, means that when it's cold I don't need to keep moving my hand out of the covers to change pages. I've actually just bought another stand for the opposite side of the bed so I can lie on either side and read as the mood (or comfort) hits me. I now have one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09ZLCFF9F? on either side of the bed Last edited by Mnementh; Yesterday at 08:49 PM. |
