Struggle Bus- KFX-ZIP

Hello everyone,

I am attempting to convert a newer book I purchased. I was successful with my first attempt using an older PW1 so I figured it'd be smooth sailings for #2. Unfortunately, this newer book will not transfer to my old kindle. So I'm stuck. I tried to go in and manually drop in the book from my computer but it is locked with KFX-ZIP.

Is there another way I have to do this file type? I just want to get the plain text instead of copying page by page.

What do you mean, it doesn't transfer to your old Kindle? You can't download it from Amazon to your Kindle? Can you provide a link to the book at Amazon?

It sounds like he downloaded the eBook with K4PC and then tried to copy it to calibre which failed because the DRM was not able to removed.

I don't get why he didn't just have the eBook sent to his PW1. He could have copied it from the PW1 to calibre and removed the DRM if he has DeDRM and it's configured correctly.

It is unsupported and requires a Fire Tablet or iphone/mac/android.

You're right. I tried to find the files inside my macbook and then upload directly to Calibre, still locked. Unfortunately, this book is not compatible with older kindle models. Probably because it is more textbook than anything else. I had no issues with transferring a different book to my PW1 and then converting with Calibre so there isn't an issue with the process. Just this newer format that I'm struggling with.

I'm very appreciative of your guys' help.

Yes. Some people have had success with Kindle for Android in the past, but I have no idea if that method still works.

Edit: is the book available in other stores besides Amazon?

It is available on Kobo CA and Google Play Books. Kobo will price match the price on Amazon CA so I suspect the same for Kobo/Amazon US.

Good, then the OP can buy it there as it's much easier to remove the DRM.

Unfortunately I purchased it on Amazon before I realized how this whole conversion stuff worked.

Depends on how long they played with it before posting here. Amazon has a 7 day limit on returning ebooks and if it is a textbook or other educational work, they will flat out deny a refund (they know their university/higher education students )

Got some old books (I have 5000+ books in my Kindle lib) and want to DeDRM them, but I'm running into a bit of a problem. I've tried Satsuoni's 10.0.9 but I keep getting KFX-ZIP, which means no decryption.

So I went look in troubleshoting steps and it says I need to check kfxextractor28.exe and extract keys manually.

Except none of the files on Satsuoni's DeDRM_tools seem to contain any EXEs.

I finally found an older DeDRM archive that contain those. Ran those in PowerShell Admin level pointing to "My Kindle Content" subdir, and... nothing got generated. :-(

I doubled and triple checked, all the directories (even searched with Everything) nothing was generated.

I'm a bit stumped.

Where did you download Satsuoni's tools from? Satsuoni's latest is 10.0.15, not 10.0.9, and they do contain the kfxkeyextractor.exe file. Seems to me you downloaded from the wrong place.
