Pocketbook Era - Language Support

Hello everyone,

I have been trying to get Russian–English and Russian–Russian dictionaries working on PocketBook Era PB700 (firmware U700.6.8.4183), but nothing seems to be compatible.. So far I have tried:

1. KOReader ZIPs (including older versions to 2022)

Result: ghost apps @koreader in “Users” but do not launch.

2. KOReader PBI installers/older builds

Same result — launcher refuses to run them.

3. Factory reset/clean install

Same result

4. Manual dictionary install

Tried .dic or StarDict files but the firmware does not recognize them. It seems there is no easy way to add dictionaries to the native system. The OS no longer allows raw StarDict files.



I understand that the firmware might block unsigned apps, and that native dictionary import may be limited. I am looking for a practical solution - thank you in advance for any advice))

I couldn't believe what you were hinting so I tried it myself:
KoReader Version:2025.10-126
Pocketbook Era Color PB700K3
Firmware version: U700k3.6.10.2359

KoReader:
Is starting fine, reading works but dictionary lookup is broken, only window that pops up is searching blabla but the window showing the term in dictionary and translation is missing, the search also blocks KoReader, resulting in searching blabla on every touch on the screen. This error is device specific, other older Pocketbooks are showing the dictionary window. Funfact: during the update of KoReader the update window which is giving detailed infos about seeding etc. is also not shown.

How to solve your problem:
1) Report the bug to the KoReader developers!
2) Konvert the Stardict dictionaries into Pocketbook dic format and use it in the native Pocketbook reading app. There are a lot of threads here how to do it.
