I like that plugin, but there is a question: Would it be possible to add a space between the author name and the Number? And so if there are several authors for a book, to add a comma between the authors?
Example:
John Doe(8) Martha Duh(3)
change to:
John Doe (8), Martha Duh (3)
That would be much better to read...
PS: I refer to the custom column.
And if i could change the colors of the author name and/or the number, that would be a cherry on top!

DaltonST hasn't logged onto MR since July 2023.

I suggest you change the PI source for yourself.

For the space between name and count see line 242 of main.py.

For colours - I have no idea.

I packed the plugin, bumped the version to 1.2.6 and give it back to the community!

Cool, I did something like that for Job Spy in order to remove an annoying message on every calibre startup "Search bar items increased..." Might post in its thread this version if anyone wants... (but sometimes it seems I'm the only user that has the search bar dropdown items increase enabled, so..)

I use the other ABC plugin.

I have installed this latest version of ABC_Hierarchy.
I am using Calibre 9.2.1 on a Mac running Sequoia 15.7.3.
When I try to run ABCH I get the following error message: "You Must Restart Calibre Before Running ABCH in this library."
But no matter how many times I restart, I still get the same message.
Any ideas?

I tried installing the plugin archive in message #64 in this thread using calibre 9.2.1 under Windows 11. Restarted calibre and the plugin shows up in the plugin list with no customization needed.

Thank you for checking this out for me. I also have no problems with loading the plugin from a file and I also get the "No customization" message.
The problem is that when I have the ABCH icon in my toolbar, have a book or books selected to be processed using ABCH, and actually click the icon, I get asked if I want to "Execute Author Book Count Hierarchy: Continue?" and when I click Yes then I get the error message "You must Restart Calibre Before Running ABCH in this Library." But Restarting does not fix anything. I get the same error message every time.

One idea might be to restart calibre in debug mode, try what you're doing, shut calibre down and post the resulting calibre debug log

Odd. I reinstalled ABCH from the zip file in @igorius' message #64. I created the #abc_hierarchy column (I didn't bother with the second column and the Recognize numbers tweak no longer seems to exist. I then ran the tool and it seems to have selected my entire main library instead of the 1 book I had selected. I've attached an image from the end of the job run and some books in the library.

This is running calibre 9.2.1 from source under Windows 11.
