Request for a patch for "Tapping only" feature to swipe pages:
I have the habit of preferring to read along with my index finger. Just a matter of preference and comfort. Of course, this causes unintended page swipes. A workaround that I found is that my device, a Kobo7 Forma, doesn't recognize two-finger swipes, so following the text with two fingers doesn't trigger page swipes. However, this gets tiring and it isn't 100% effective when one finger naturally pulls off the screen. I know the stock options allow for "Tapping or swiping" or "Swiping only". Could someone patch Nickel to have a third "Tapping only" option? Ideally, a double tap to swipe would be best to prevent accidental swipes, but it's fine if Nickel only allows single taps |

I'm looking for a way to either increase how long it takes for a long-press to be triggered or a way to disable the highlighting/dictionary menu all together. So many times when tapping to turn the page, it highlights or tries to look up a word. I mostly use libby, so KOreader isn't an option for me. I don't need highlighting, but I would like to keep the dictionary, so long as it doesn't popup constantly.

Another thing you can do to to go to the Reading Settings in options, check the option Page forward and back by: to swipe. Then you won't have a problem with tapping. |

Edit: Just took a quick look; simply NOP the ReadingView::nextPageWithTimer/ReadingView::prevPageWithTimer calls in ReadingView::processSwipe. I haven't tested it, but it should work. Last edited by geek1011; 01-30-2026 at 01:19 AM. |

Not sure if I have ever seen that mentioned before. I know there was someone playing with editing the waveform & vcom at 0x0006ffff0 or 0x00070000 in the disk image and the newest Kobo's can use vcom.txt to change the value.

Patch Request: Home TBR Patch
Patch Request to manually sort books in the Home (file browser) screen (not Favorites or Collections).
Patch Name: Home TBR Patch; Add a new option (named Manually Sort Books in Home) in the hamburger menu (top right) under Add to folder shortcuts and above Extract and cache book information. When you tap on Manually Sort Books in Home, it would then open to a list of books in the file browser Home folder, with up and down arrows on the bottom (exactly like you can do in the Collections folder). This would allow you to keep your Sort setting while allowing you to move specific books to be read directly to the front page in Home Mosaic view. |

@Artemis*
As far as I'm aware adding new firmware features is not something that can be achieved via a patch. |

I guess you could partially achieve what you're looking for by creating a TBR collection and then adding your high priority books there.
