Kindle PW Gen12 & Calibre very slow

Hi,

I-ve just received a PW gen 12. When I connected it to a MB Air M4 and launched calibre every action seemed to be extremely slow. Everything worked but choosing books in Calibre and sending to the Kindle was far slower than with my old PW.

Is someone seeing the same behavior and knows why?

Thanks
Victor

Without your Kindle connected to the laptop, is calibre slow? If calibre is slow, then it's most likely the software that emulates an intel processor. When you have your Kindle connected, is any other software trying to also access it? The PW6 is running MTP and can only have one connection at a time.

Thanks for the hint!
I noticed the interaction with some of the books was faster. iCloud, my library is on iCloud. I took a look and most of the library was in the cloud yet.
I set the folder to keep the download and now works fine.

Do not use icloud for your library. If it works, it's going to be very slow. The library must be on your computer with no program uploading it to icloud.

Yes, that's what to do. Stop icloud from being used.

It's recommended by the developer to not use cloud storage with Calibre: https://manual.calibre-ebook.com/faq...rked-drive-nas

My main problem with cloud storage is that if it works, it's going to be very slow.

Not if the files are locally available. My Dropbox libraries function just like my fully local library.

With online-only files it's another matter. I would never use calibre with cloud-only files.

I might be able to get my calibre libraries I have stored on OneDrive to work. But in the speed would do way too slow to be of any use.

Are they cloud-only? In that case, probably yes.

My Dropbox libraries are all fully downloaded and there's no difference in speed between them and my local main library. Dropbox is not running, of course.
