It looks as if "imp" was deprecated in python 3.12; seeing calibre jumped from 3.11 to 3.14 imp is gone. pip does have zombie-imp (see https://pypi.org/project/zombie-imp/ )

For one plugin, I ended up replacing imp with importlib which was a bit of fun to get working. Mostly make a change and see what happens since the syntax for importlib is rather different from imp's syntax.

Currently not working. Am tracking down issue(s). First one is that the code in the plugin doesn't like a 4 level version

Attached find a beta version that loads under calibre 9. I have also updated many strings to remove the warnings about invalid string formats.

It is versioned as 1.17.14.1

Please test and see if it works as expected (on 9 and older versions).

Linux Mint 22.3, Calibre v. 9.1: Annotations are only actualized on books in the library. The button: "Fetch annotations from connected device" is grayed out; no annotations are fetched from the reader. The option "Import annotations from ..." has no target.

What device (book reader) are you using?

That's not an issue from the migrations, it happens at calibre8 with the original version, it looks like it's not detecting when a device is connected.

Detecting connected device too? Because it fails for me at 8.16.

Maybe it's working because of the change in Python and/or QT.

Using either 8.16.2 or 9.1 with both test versions of the Annotations plugin, Fetch annotations from connected device is greyed out.

Ok. I'll try to track down what I messed up. Thanks. Probably some dumb mistake with converting strings to raw strings. I presume this was with a Kobo?

Yes with multiple Kobo devices.
