Have you checked to make sure Calibre’s network address hasn’t changed, if so you will need to edit it in Calibre Sync

The IP address hasn't changed and Calibre Sync is able to connect and download books from Calibre. It just doesn't see new books that I've added. My Calibre library lives in DropBox and the new books do show up when I use content sharing in Moonreader.

Now, the books that were synced are still in the app and available, but everything I've added to Calibre since October doesn't sync. I've tried adding my library as a new library and and I've tried uninstalling Calibre Sync an then reinstalling into a different folder on my tablet. I can see the new books in Calibre on my computer, but they don't appear in Calibre Sync. I tried sending an email to their support account and haven't gotten a reply. I'd appreciate any suggestions for what else I might try.
I had this a while back, and deleted my library and added it again, and it started syncing again. But mid-November it stopped syncing again. I too have sent an email to the support email address, and I have yet to hear anything.

I've just checked, and trying to edit the library information gives the same message that I reported here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...&postcount=277

I guess if I don't hear, I'll delete and try again. But it does seem to be a bug in calibre sync, which is otherwise wonderful.

Just downloaded Calibre Sync but can't seem to figure out what this icon does. I've tried it several times and in different layouts, but it doesn't seem to do anything?

When my library updates in Calibre Sync, I get this error, and new books added from Calibre aren't being updated.

I've already emailed the developer.

Have you recently edited the columns in your calibre database?

It will be because the isbn, lccn and flags columns have been deleted from the calibre books table in calibre 9 (they were never used for anything and just tkae up unneccessary disk space). The developer of Calibre Sync should update his SQL query to exclude those columns.

If you're brave or stupid enough to do this, you can keep Calibre Sync working in the meantime by editing the metadata.db file before syncing to temporarily restore the deleted fields. This will only work if you access the library folder directly e.g. with WebDAV, i.e. not through Calibre web etc.

1. Close the Calibre app and make a backup copy of (each of) the metadata.db files you have - one per library folder. Preferably have a backup each folder in its/their entirety.

For each:

2. Open each of the metadata.db in a suitable database manager e.g SQLite Studio, DBeaver, etc. FWIW, I used DBeaver.

3. Open the 'books' table and add the fields: 'flags' (INTEGER, default value=1), 'isbn' (TEXT), and 'lccn' (TEXT). Note the latter is "LCCN" in lower case not "ICCN".

4. Persist your changes to metadata.db, then sync with Calibre Sync.

5. Delete the altered metadata.db file(s) and restore the backup copy(-ies) BEFORE accessing it/them from the Calibre application.

Cross your fingers and beseech whatever god or gods that you favor that you haven't screwed up you library(-ies) completely. On second thoughts, do this at the start.

Did you ever get a response? I also emailed the developer a few days ago and haven't gotten a response. I'm wondering if Calibre Sync has been abandoned.

Won't those just be removed with the next update again? Or maybe Calibre even checks for those during each startup.

No. The calibre schema update is based on checking a user_version flag in the database and applying any needed changes. So since the user_version was updated during the calibre 9.x upgrade the changes will not be reapplied. As to what happens if the database needs to be restored by calibre I've no idea.

If I were to temporarily go back to Calibre 8, would it work with a Calibre 9 database, or would I have to rebuild it?

The best way to find out is to copy your library, install calibre 8.16.2 portable and you'll soon know.

While I have also not received a response, assuming abandonment might be a bit early. The last update for the Android version was on April 1st, 2025. 10 months for, at the time, stable software isn't bad.
