The high temperature for the day here was 20°F. It was cloudy and breezy. The next several days are forecast to be colder -- possibly much colder. We got the driveway cleared this afternoon and I brought my wife's car down for her. We're still a couple of weeks away from the sun being strong enough to help with keeping the pavement free of drifting snow.
Long range forecasts are tracking a possible snow storm for next Sunday (as noted by astrangerhere, above) but most of the models are keeping it more or less offshore by the time it gets to us. There's a chance we could see another major snow event, but there's also a chance it will miss us entirely. It has my attention. |

It's -6 here, feels like -13. The schools are closed for the third day in a row due to frigid temps. There is about 10" of snow out there. I haven't been to the nursing home to see my mom for 2 weeks, and I'm still coughing.
Online people with no kids are fussing about the school's being closed. Most districts don't bus kids who live within 2 miles of the school. Not to mention trying to run busses in these low temps. |

Temps below freezing, wind, residual ice/snow not melting - more "moderate to substantial snowfall' predicted for Saturday - followed by more below freezing temps .... sigh ... going to be a long January/February here - we haven't had significant snow fall for over 5 years or so ...

here - replenished groceries, laid in a couple cases of bottled water, etc. Took a short walk where the ice had cleared - 4 layers of clothing and boots - that is a very cold wind out there. |

Bright sunshine and it's above zero F! Taking relative to food shelf later today and maybe getting a haircut, and then no place to go until next Tuesday.

9° and raining. Dear old soggy Vancouver. It could be worse—I could be living in Prince Rupert.

There was some snow overnight yesterday. Only a centimeter locally, and on sidewalks and roads it melted away immediately. All in all a gray day, but due to the left over bits of snow it did feel bright.
Today will be another gray day, but warmer at 5℃, with a small chance of rain later tonight. This will be pretty much the same for the next couple of days; between 5℃ and 8℃, gray and a chance of some rain. I've never felt so ready for longer days and the return of spring. |

4AM here. One app says 10° F. and the other 6° "Real feel" 0 and -3°. We get up in the high teens usually during the day all of this week. It has been sunny since Monday, but I haven't been out since Saturday. My nose started running constantly on Monday. I think I would need to wear my snowboots for the nasty curbs when crossing streets. I haven't worn them in a couple of years, because they don't have the arches that my Dansko clogs have.
A neighbor offered to get some groceries and on Wednesday brought me the 3 things I needed. |

Arctic air is here - wind chills below 0 coming up. Expecting snow to start tonight and thru tomorrow. The south is not equipped to handle this weather. Hunkered down to ride it out. Hoping snow is fluffy and we don't lose power.

I'm even less prepared for more snow than I was the first time. I won't get my metal ice shovel in the mail until Tuesday, and I don't think there's a bag of rock salt/ice melt to be had anywhere in the country--even places like Amazon are not showing delivery estimates until a week or two from today.

Several local shops are holding sales on snow shovels, ice melter/salt, sand and other oddments related to snow.
The current 9° and heavy rain may have something to do with that decision. |
