Agree that publishers may not bother and some may not even realize they need to.

I think I might prefer extracting books via Kindle for PC or an eink Kindle, as long as those methods work. I don't really care about high-res images on eink (I don't read comics or manga and I usually look at maps etc on my computer), but losing all embedded fonts is not something I like.

Yep. I deeply regret not buying Sam Keith's stuff on Amazon/Comixology when it was available. There was a period when The Maxx was not just available on Prime, but also several other series he had done. They're all gone now, pretty much everything except The Maxx/Batman crossover, b/c I assume DC owns the rights to that.

I am starting to doubt that they will make this information available prior to purchase. Even if they do I doubt that it will distinguish between EPUB or PDF being the available format.
