Well, that depends.
An Ukrainian passport will be of course much cheaper here then, let's say ... American.
Was it reported as stolen?
It usually depends who it was stolen from

It might be even more expensive if you want it modified so it contains your actual photo

That's correct - the UK and Ireland opted out of the part of the "Schengen Treaty" which abolished internal border controls within the EU. We still have them.

You must have both of them? As in France (from what I understand from Z) here you have either a passport or an ID card. With a passport you can go anywhere in the world, the ID card won't let you leave Europe.

And neither are mandatory, as long you have a valid way to identify yourself (a driver's license is valid as well, for example), but I'm not sure what you need if you cross into a bordering country (Shengen country that is)

The simultaneous issue of the passport and card was largely a method of 'forcing' the id card onto a seemingly reluctant public. As a tactic I think it has been quietly dropped as the 'credit crunch' has reduced the available funding.
But the current government is very reluctant to stop the process, they just keep changing the goalposts ....

they are id card. will only let you cross the border by car..maybe boat(not sure). but no airplane. most of the time if you get the card you have to go back at some point and buy the full passport too so it cheaper to just buy the full copy.

In Michigan, with an "enhanced" driver's license or id, you can drive across the border without a passport. Local linky.

My first US passport costs $35, the last one was $75. All were good for 10 years.

Back in the 1980s when I was in Saudi Arabia, they collected your return plane ticket and passport (mine was held by a Captain in the Saudi Navy) and issued you an ID card. When you were scheduled to leave they exchanged your ID card for your plane ticket and passport.

I remember one flight out was via a week in London. We arrived and the Customs agent sat back in his booth and waved us all by saying that there was nothing we could bring from Saudi that the British were worried about.
