Stuck on Setup, any jailbreak (present or future) that can bypass this? (even if for
The State of the Device:
It powers on and charges perfectly. I can connect to Wi-Fi, but it times out sometimes when trying to register. Eventually, it gives the error: "The information you entered does not match an Amazon account" (even with correct credentials). What I have tried so far: Factory Reset: Used the DO_FACTORY_RESTORE file method. Manual Update: I manually reloaded the software via USB (dragged the .bin file over), so it is unfortunately on the latest/recent firmware. Hotspot: Tried connecting via mobile hotspot to rule out router issues; same result. Since I cannot register it (and therefore cannot use standard jailbreaks that require a logged-in account), is there any known way to bypass the WiFi/Registration setup screen on the latest firmware? |

5.16.6 is not the latest, but not the worst. You could try using AdBreak for that.
However, first things first - you need to SAFELY reach the home screen. To do that, fill up your Kindle with dummy files until lestt than 200 MB (or less) left. Then go ahead and register/enter your account and HOPE that it won’t try to pull newer update. Then do the AdBreak |

Also, maybe try dropping an empty WIFI_NO_NET_PROBE file and restarting. This might help with the account.
Other chances are you need a VPN to access Amazon servers. |

Seems to me that you're right, weird. But I did check the version by connecting to my PC and opening a file called "version.txt," which shows the version is currently Kindle 5.16.1 (418173 001). To answer your second question, yes, USB transfer works, but in my current situation, I believe my Kindle may have been blacklisted, and the seller failed to notify me.

VPN is for your PC, where you then share with the tethering network, I little hard, but doable
You can check if the device was blacklisted. You need access to browser (see page 33 in LanguageBreak thread with my instructions for JB on Kindle Scribe - you only need parts for the browser ). In the address you need to enter combination ;711 or ;411 in the address bar and hit Enter. I forgot which one, but one of them will tell the serial number. If it looks all random and legit, then no, your Kindle isn’t blacklisted. If it is, the the serial number will be some kind of placeholder, like 0000XXXX… etc

Huh, I must be old school. Apparently, Tailscale or Wireguard are really easy ways to share a VPN’ed network from PC (Windows has the hotspot capability).

No no, you just need to access browser. Instead of the demo command enter ;411 or ;711

Looks to me that I see a proper strand of random numbers + letters, no placeholder that I can see, yet my Kindle still refuses to register. Weird.

Additionally, I had to use a workaround to access the browser on the Kindle Scribe. The loophole is "demo mode": without first registering the Kindle, you are unable to use the web browser. So now, to a degree, my Kindle is functional, but not to see its full extent.

Good news so far! Now try different networks (phone cellular hotspot, public hotspots, etc) - it seems like Amazon servers don’t like your connection
