Beta testers for calibre 9 needed

I always start calibre with the same Physical library… via the --with-library in taskbar shortcut, and the same Virtual library… via the Prefs-> Behaviour->Virtual library to apply when the current library is opened: setting.

When I start calibre it starts in the last view used, I'd like to have a Prefs->Behaviour->View to apply when the current library is opened: setting, three radio buttons - List, Grid and Shelf, default would be List.

Yes, you can change the colors in dividers (text, line and background).
But I think JSWolf is talking about changing the color for each divider independently, which won't happen (way way overingienered and overcomplicated idea). Note that dividers have line gradient and different shapes available precisely so that we can be distinguished them from books. Plus that if you use cover on spine, dividers are uniform colors.

Oh, I see, a dynamic "anti-chameleon" divider. Sounds difficult.

It was my mistake.

Actually, there are two more things I'd like. I'd like to have the group divider text to be centered and to be able to have the spine text bold if I want.

I made a mistake and had the divider text color the same as the spine. I don't want the divider text color to be different.

Text on spine can be set to bold in the last beta.

For the centeed text on dividers: No.
Centered text is for spine, text on divider is aligned to the left or right (top/bottom) of the dividers to make it distinctive from spine. Also, this will require to split the line on dividers wich is also a part of distinctive of them, and split it in two would make them less visible.
You can already inverse the alignement of text divider to the other side, but center, no.

I may be doing something stupidly wrong but I can't get the emblems to work in Bookshelf view.
Everything works as expected in the Cover grid and I have tried using the same rule in both.
Anyone else having issues?

It depend of what you want: Is you want display severals emblems, then No. Unlike Grid, Bookshelf view display only one emblem by book.

This limitation is because the space availde on spine is quite narrow and we need to resize the emblems if several share the same place.
Note that emblems also include "pin mark" and "on device mark", not always display but that need to take acount in the case their are display.
Belive me, it the better we can get.

The emblem selection is first rule to match, top to bottom.

If you don't have any emblem at all, despite they work on Grid, then we can start to help.

I have an icon which is 16x16 pixels which should appear when there is no Publisher information entered.

Hmm, strange. Are you sure that the condition are meet for this books?

Try with the rule "if column 'Id' is defined" (wich is always true) and if the icon don't show that the icon the problem. Else... that not good.

I have tried various rules to try to force the icon to show in various positions but without success.
The icon is a png file which works in the Cover grid and also in the List view in my Date Read column when certain rules are met.
I deliberately used an icon I know works in calibre.
I don't want to waste anyone's time with this, so I'll play again when I have nothing better to do. It's annoying but let's leave it for now.
