Availability Date for Kindle Scribe Colorsoft in Fig

For those of you watching and waiting for the opportunity to order the new 2025 Kindle Scribe Colorsoft in Fig, Amazon just updated the order page stating that it will be available on January 28, 2026 at 6:00 am PST.

Here’s the link:
https://www.amazon.com/Amazon-Kindle...06&sr=1-3&th=1

From what I’ve seen on Amazon’s website, it would appear that the Fig colored Scribe Colorsoft will only be released in the 64GB version as they have no information on the 32GB version.

At least we no longer need to be checking the website daily to see if it has become available for order.

I'm interested in the regular one without backlight, but I'm really worried about those recycled claims.

"Recycled Content Certification for Electrical and Electronic Equipment"

That's not something that I like seeing in electronics. It poses too many durability concerns.

Kindles have front lights...and I don't believe they offer one without it.

They will be releasing one without a front light "coming soon".

I didn't know this. I wonder how well it will sell...I would hate it.

In its defense, it will have: 1) best contrast (fewer layers) 2) more parsimonious power consumption (16 weeks vs 12 weeks (w/front light) vs 8 weeks (Colorsoft)). 3) potentially best writing experience (fewer layers) 4) $70 less.

The downside: 16 GB is the only storage option offered. But that's plenty for notebooks, and for books or PDFs that are not graphics-heavy.

I am thinking seriously about trading in my 2022 Scribe for one - I think that would make it less than $300. I rarely read without light sufficient to read print books.

But if you don't use the frontlight, the battery should last as long as the one without the frontlight. And you have the option of using the frontlight should you want to. if I read in bed at night, I use the frontlight. If I had no frontlight, I'd not be able to read in bed. It would not be a good idea to keep my bedside lamp on while my wife is trying to sleep.

Just having front light available means an extra layer is there to diffract and diminish clarity of text. It is possible this new Scribe somehow is no better in this respect than the front-lit one, so I will look forward to evidence about it one way or the other.

I think it is not a good idea to read in bed while a partner is trying to sleep, period. At some level, if one is awake, they're aware of it, and it's disturbing their sleep.

For each person to have good sleep together, it's very helpful if not necessary to synchronize sleep cycles. There are enough other impediments to compatible sleeping, reading does not need to be one of them.

Sleeping well is foundational to physical and emotional health, yet like eating well, and other ways of caring for oneself, or loving someone, isn't something that 'just happens' without some attention given to prioritize it. As I am belatedly learning as I grow older.

Your statements seems to be a rather ill-informed generalizations. My spouse is quite happy to spend several hours doomscrolling while I sleep soundly and happily. Admittedly, my family used to claim the world could end and I wouldn't notice until I woke up.
