EDIT:
Okay, I "fix it" by put a finally block with painter.end()
but it is the only solution that work. I will continue to inspect.

EDIT2:
the finally block i not required, just put a painter.end() at the end of the paintEvent seem enough (their is none).

Yes, I see line 1 and line 2 now.

Now what's needed is the ability to change the white text and the black text to different or the same colors and the option to bold each color if we want.

Yeah, the current default button resets the entire Look & Feel section. I was hoping for a more granular solution so only the current section gets reset.

I'm still having difficulties locating Group dividers on Dark mode shelves, I can see them much better in Light mode. But I do not want to change calibre or Windows to Light mode.

So, my request is: Can we have a Shelf colour setting: Light or Dark.

Added: and the highlight of the current book is also much easier to see on the Light colour shelves.

Windows 11 here. I cannot get 8.99.6 to crash.

I found another bug.

Go to the Bookshelf view preferences. change the opacity to 50%, remove the templates from line 1 and 2. Then click apply and the bookshelf becomes empty. A restart does not restore the bookshelf. There seesm to be no way to show the books. I even switched to a different library and it still failed to show in the Bookshelf. Going back to an earlier configuration directory does not work to show the Bookshelf.

Crash doesnt reproduce for me either. Try running with --ignore-plugins and see if it reproduces? Also is the pages scan complete in your library? I tried to reproduce after restarting the pages scan as well, didnt happen.

Yes, I can reproduce the crash even with plugins disabled.
The only other change I have made is to point the Template for spine width I've chosen the Pages (#pages) field.

I installed 8.99.5 and the bookshelf displayed. I went back to 8.99.6 with --ignore-plugins and the bookshelf displays.

How do I start calibre portable from the command line in debug mode, I want to do a debug log with no plugins. Thanks.
