Kobo Libra Colour with 3.48 Calibre.

Had an older Kobo that died hours before leaving on vacation to Mexico......bought a new Kobo Libra Colour on the way outta town without realizing that it would be a major PITA to get books onto it with my old travel Mac that will only update Calibre to 3.48.

Calibre will not acknowledge the new KLC.

I have tried adding the suggested plug-ins but it says Calibre needs to be upgraded first....so...I'm kinda going in circles.

Also .....this is certainly pushing the limits of my tech abilities!!

Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Untill someone more knowledgeable comes along...

Use calibre to convert to epub, and then use the computers file manager (finder?) To copy the epub to the kobo.

Good luck

You could try using this custom version of the KoboTouch plugin that might recognise your Libra Colour on Calibre 3.48:

https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...1&postcount=60

If that doesn't work, your only option would be to manage your books without using Calibre. You can still copy books directly over USB, but you can't sync your Calibre library. Export all your books as either EPUB or KEPUB, and then copy/paste them over USB onto your Kobo's internal storage.

This is a significant downside to using Calibre for book management, since Kovid doesn't maintain support for older operating systems, and old Calibre versions can't talk to newer e-readers.

Part of the issue for Kovid and any one else writing programs to run on multiple operating systems using Qt is that Qt drops support for older OS with almost every release.

Ah, so Qt is the real problem here.

Forget that custom version of the Kobo Touch driver. It's obsolete. I've updated it to recognize the latest firmware version. So this should be OK I hope. I've also updated the version.

@dayne66, try this version of the custom Kobo Touch driver. It should work. But before you use it, backup the exposed partition on your Kobo just in case.

@DNSB, would you mind taking this driver and creating a new thread for it in the Kobo forum and making it a stick so those who cannot run a new enough calibre can easily find this? Thanks.

Remember it's not just Qt. Newer versions of Python have also dropped support for older OS versions.

You don't need to use file manager to copy books to your Kobo. Install the Kobo Touch driver I attached in this thread. It should work and allow you to manage your Kobo with calibre.
