Bookmark error
When I attempt to set a bookmark in the reader, I always get an error popup that says, "Could not calculate position in book". Any advice on this? I read EPUB books only. Latest version of Calibre.

Something about that book is probably the issue. Like it is Images only. Does it pass EPUB check?

(Per my sig, I am stuck on w10, but I am running beta 4 of Calibre 9 and no viewer issues. )

Sorry, I spent all day yesterday trying to reply, and I kept getting something about "this action is rate limited, try again in a few seconds."

Anyway -- my problem is not specific to one book. This happens no matter what book I'm reading. I'll still send you a book to check out if you like. If I do that, I'm supposed to use that ScrambleEbook thing, right?

OK, I've uploaded a book called "Lolly Willowes", more or less at random. It has the same problem with bookmarks.

Tried inserting bookmarks at various positions in the book, no errors. What version of calibre are you running exactly and post the full details from the error message.

I've got Calibre 8.16.1. The error message is exactly what I put in my first post; no other information.

OK, something weird: if I do CTRL-ALT-B to add a bookmark, it works! But if I hit ESC and then click on Bookmarks, and then hit New in the Bookmarks window, I get that error every time.

At least now I know how to add a bookmark!

Try 8.16.2 as that's the latest version and if it still doesn't work, then post the error report.

This has been a problem for some time, through several versions of Calibre. I doubt very much that going from 8.16.1 to 8.16.2 will make any difference, but I'll play the game and do it anyway.

It's always best to run the current version to make sure whatever the problem is is still the problem.

Try running the viewer in debug mode in the command prompt and see if any errors are printed out there:

calibre-debug -w file.epub
