Getting ready to go with the granddaugher for her 3rd eye surgery......a relatively minor op, Goes home a couple hours later, but still worrisome.

They just tighten the eyeball muscles so that their little eyes don't roll around in their head. Apparently, my child is losing her depth perception because her eyes aren't aligning properly.

Dammit.

For migraine, I sometimes find that chilli can give some relief (a nice, spicy Thai stir-fry, preferably chicken instead of red meat, can be the good stuff, but if short of that I've downed a tablespoon of sweet chilli sauce instead). A spicy cup-of-soup/noodles might be worth a go, if you have them handy at a local supermarket. Otherwise, I know someone who swears by the sport drinks (Gatorade, Staminade, etc.).

Cheers,
Marc

yeesh ! poor kiddo ! don't you have eye exercise doctors (here they're called "orthoptiste", i don't know what the name is in english) there ? i had a problem where my inner eye muscles weren't very strong (it wasn't easy for me to look cross-eyed) which made it hard to focus on near things ; i had a few sessions with that doctor who made me do eye exercises and gave me some exercises to do at home. they were a little uncomfortable at first but not painful at all, and i'd rather do that than surgery any day !! after all, they are muscles ; you can exercise them. maybe that could help your granddaughter.

Good thinking. I should have said that first. Then I'd also have said, "However, if you've already had plenty of caffeine and it hasn't helped, more (at least with me) may make it worse".

Sounds like fun. What are you going to see?

The last movie I went to see was "ET" when my daughter was little, and before that was "The Exorcist" and before that maybe it was "Ben Hur" or something. As you can tell I don't do movies much. I WATCH them, just don't GO to them.

Hmmm... I know someone in the office who keeps a stock of sweet chilli sauce. On the other hand, I'm not sure I want to go and raid the HR department's supplies!

Tea (which has caffeine in, as well as tannin) certainly helps me. Coffee makes it much, much worse (and the fizzy caffeinated drinks make me feel sick). Also tepid water (if one of the triggers has been not enough fluid).

This time, though, (partly because of one of the triggers, and partly because of the speed it works) I've decided to go for the chemical route and popped a zolmitriptan.

I hope the operation goes well! Will this be the last one or is there more to come? Will she be in much pain or discomfort?

Here in the UK these things are often helped with exercises or special glasses if the problem isn't too severe.
