Scribe Colorsoft and black pages in some comics

I've been reading comics I bought from Amazon/Kindle store on my new Scribe Colorsoft. I noticed some of them don't work well as some pages are all black. On my other Kindles they work fine. It's just on my Scribe Colorsoft that I'm having this issue. Tried contacting Amazon CS but they were clueless and unhelpful. Already tried restarting the device and redownloading the comics I'm having issues with, nothing worked.

What could be the problem? In these posts people think it's related to comics' old format. How is this possible when the comics I'm having issues with are comics that were published recently and purchased in the past year?

It's a bug with Scribe Colorsoft firmware.

I can reproduce what you are seeing with the old format (KF8 - uses file extension .azw3). AZW3 still gets used. I have one that was published in March 2024 but it downloads as AZW3 for Kindle for PC.

There are also fixed layout books in AZW3 fixed layout format which combine text and full page images. These seem to render as blank pages, and only display in page flip mode.

Yes definitely is a bug with the Scribe Colorsoft. Hopefully we see a fix soon. Thanks for the reply.

Got a message from Amazon CS that the devs saw my review and they released a fix for it. They said all I had to do to implement the fix is to delete and redownload the comics. I did that and the comics I had issues with all appear fine now, no black pages.

Sounds a little fishy, there have not been any 'releases' as such. Or maybe the fix is for a server-side issue.

That seems likely given their long history of server side glitches and breakage.

Nothing fishy. It wasn’t a firmware update, it was a backend fix and it really did resolve the issue.

I wonder how this will fix side-loaded fixed-layout AZW3, however (the issue seemed confined to that format).

Is this different from the issue I had? Do you have a Scribe Colorsoft so you can check?
