I've tried Readest and it's so-so. Not as good as BookFusion.

So my mom accidentally upgraded to IOS26 and Marvin no longer works for her. I downloaded the app Yomu and seems to be a good alternative to Marvin. I like that it syncs using iCloud when I switch from reading books on iphone or ipad. It's also a one time payment and my mom was able to use the premium coz she's on my iCloud Family.

She's a bit frustrated with the app coz she's not techie enough and doesn't know how to make fonts bigger or add new books etc but so far she hasn't complained again after I tweaked it to her liking.

Thank you for this info. After Marvin stopped working, I have used MapleRead SE, but at first sight, Readest looks very well.

As I wrote in another thread, I finally made backups of both my working Marvin 2 and 3 installs. Then I updated my phone and fully reinstalled my Mini 6 (it was due for a long time).

Marvin 3 on the phone starts up, I can read the only book in the library but the app lost its activation and has that trial mode banner now. Trying to restore purchase gives me error that there is a problem accessing the App store... :P

On the iPad Mini 6 I installed both Marvin 2 and 3 from the backup I made. Marvin 2 works like it did before but 3 doesn't even start, white screen with M logo and then it shuts down.

IpadOS 26.2.1 and Marvin 2 still works. Can anyone else confirm that? I did restore it in a fresh wiped Mini 6. I did not expect this to happen but I'm so damn happy right now it it actually works because I actually preferred using Marvin 2 over the newer 3, even tho adding books in the library was kind of difficult lately.

Encouraged by this, I just deleted both Marvin 2 (trial, it had lost activation long time ago) and 3 installs from my phone and reinstalled Marvin 2. It works on iPhone 13 Pro Max, running IOS 26.2.1 I just updated today. Also not in trial mode, full version.

So, I just updated iPad and iPhone to 26.2, and like others, have now lost Marvin: it wont launch beyond the white screen and M.

I've reinstalled it via iMazing and my 3.1.2 ipa file; but nothing. I don' t have an ipa of v2. Is that the only solution to get Marvin up and running? I'm not bothered about backups of my books or database, I just want the reader – all my files are safely on Calibre, from where I grab them via Dropbox when I want to read one.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

I wonder if the full wipe on the Mini 6 is the reason Marvin stopped working.

I have iOS 26.2/26.3 installed on a few devices. What I've noticed is for devices that had Marvin 3 installed officially from the App Store, it continues to work. On devices where I restored Marvin via iMazing, I get the white screen.

When I went to IOS 26 on my Ipad 11" Marvin 3 stopped working, could not get past the first screen on any book. I was too late to get IOS 26 reverted to 18. As my Ipad was old, I bought a new one, making sure IOS 18 was the os on it. I restored Marvin using iMazing. Now Marvin works as before. I will not upgrade to 26 until I find an acceptable replacement for it.

And what are you going to do if apps you want to use need iPadOS 26?

The answer to that is pretty obvious really… he will use those apps on his new iPad that has iOS26 on it…. Not upgrading on the old one to keep using Marvin until he finds a suitable alternative….

With the really working sync BookFusion is better than Marvin ever was in my eyes.
Readest is a promising competitor in the starting blocks.

BookFusion doesn't have what I need. However, Readest is really looking good. Can't wait to try it. If it works out I'll update the new ipad to 26, although as far as I can tell 26 doesn't have anything worthwhile for me.

I've tried Readest. It's not good enough. So don't waste your time with it.

What s BookFusion missing that you need? There is a thread for BookFusion where you could ask the author to include what you need that it doesn't have.

What are you missing or not well implemented?

I'm totally missing Marvin's image tab.

For the page turn issue, I was able to fix problematic epubs via Sigil.

Curious, was Marvin installed from the App Store or via iMazing?

App Store
iPad Pro 12.9 A12Z (26.3) - works
iPad 9th gen (26.4b) - works
iPhone SE (2020) - works
iPhone 12 mini - works

iMazing
iPhone 17 Pro (26.3) - white screen

That said, I’m keeping my main iPads (M1 Pro and mini 7) on 18.
