Nasty in NE Ohio to bid adieu to 2025. High winds, cold, lots of snow. The roads are terrible, good night to stay home.

Bushfires all over the place, including one ignited late last night by an idiot with NYE fireworks during a total fire ban. He's been caught and charged, at least.

Rainy and cold. It's 3.5℃, very windy (a lot of New Year swimming event are cancelled) and rainy. There's a chance the rain will turn into snow.
It seems like we're stuck with this weather for a while, though it'll get a bit colder so there will be higher chance of snow. Of course this is the time our heating system starts acting up. At first it didn't want to turn on and after restarting the heat exchange it now works too well. So tomorrow someone's coming by to check it out and hopefully fix it. |

It's a white world outside. By the sound of it it's more sleet than snow. Until tomorrow afternoon we get rain, sleet, snow and possibly hail. Then again tomorrow late afternoon. Until tomorrow evening there's a yellow weather warning for icy roads.
We had planned to visit Deventer tomorrow. First go to the vinyl fair and then go shopping. We wanted to go by train. But we're cancelling the trip because Dutch railways are notoriously bad in snowy/cold weather and my sister isn't comfortable driving an hour in those conditions. So today and tomorrow we're cocooning at home, hopefully the heating system gets fixed today so it works properly again. |

It has been quite cold here since before Christmas. Christmas was sunny and cold. I took a train to my hometown in New Jersey and returned in the evening. Last Monday it was so windy and I was stuck walking to get to the pool and most of the walk home. There was a wind advisory that continued Tuesday.
I didn't go out at all Tuesday. Seemed much better Saturday, Jan. 3rd at 30° F. and not too windy. Walked both ways to pool. Realized while checking out at Target near the club that I'd forgotten to put my wallet in my coat pocket. Therefore, I walked, didn't get a bus, to go home. |

On Friday morning we woke up to a white world. During the morning it snowed off and on, but in the afternoon it got too warm and all the snow melted away. Yesterday we woke up to a couple of centimeters of snow, and it kept snowing all morning. We ended up with more than the predicted 5-10cm. The second half of the afternoon was sunny, so some snow melted away.
Overnight and this morning it snowed again, adding another couple of centimeters. Today's prediction is snow off and on with sunny spells in between. There's a chance of snow each day until at least Wednesday. There's also a yellow weather warning for snowy and icy roads. First that was to last until Saturday evening, then to this afternoon, now it's until 5am on Tuesday. Tomorrow I'm starting my new job, I had planned on cycling (about 10 minutes). But with the icy roads I'm not risking a fall, so I will take the tram. Due to the weather (possible delays of the tram) and it being my first day I'll have to leave extra early tomorrow. |

It has been "warmer" the past few days. That means it got to the upper 40s in the afternoons. My managing agent thinks that's a good time to keep the heat off. I had to email her Wednesday and Thursday afternoons when it was only 66 degrees F. inside. It was warmer for walking outside but still coat weather. I overdressed because I was cold at home.

We've had a lot of snow (for Dutch standards) this past week. On Thursday night it started raining, so a lot of it has melted/turned into slush. But last night we got another dusting of snow. It wasn't that cold, however, around freezing. But this weekend it's going to be dry but cold. Today it'll be around -2℃ during the day, overnight the temperature can drop to -7℃ and tomorrow it's going to be around -2℃ again. So all the left over snow and mush can/will freeze making it icy on the road.
Normally we go to our parents on Sunday, and since it was my father's birthday earlier in the week we really want to go. But if it's dangerous on the road we might stay at home. Whilst the bigger roads and highways get salted/gritted, the neighbourhood roads aren't. |

It's cold, -6℃, this morning (9.45am). But it the sun should come out this morning. This evening it's going to start to rain and temperatures will go up and thaw will set in. Because the ground is still cold there's still a warning for icy roads until mid morning, so I'll probably take the tram to work tomorrow.
The next couple of days will be a lot warmer 6℃ to 10℃ with a chance of rain every day, but I'll take that over the foot of snow we had this past week. |

6° and raining. The atmospheric river is supposed to hit in a few hours and it's look up and drown time again (55 to 75mm of rain in the next day). On the bright side, I've never had to shovel rain.
