Quick question, I'm using flaresolverr to download from ff.net, and it is not downloading covers, I tried using the same settings (never_make_cover:false, skip_author_cover:false) with the browser cache version and there it works.
Is this the expected behavior or is it some bug? |

Sites that allow images in text sometimes benefit from use_flaresolverr_proxy:directimages but I don't think it helps with ffnet. |

Is there some work around I can do to use flaresolverr and still get covers? Like using the browser for covers and the rest it uses proxy?

Bit embarrassed to asked but I'm suck at this, I'm sure it's a simple solution I just can't figure out. trying to do the replace metadata thing and it's not working? Can anyone take a quick look and let me know what's wrong?

Whenever asking for this sort of help, please provide an example story URL and a detailed description of what behavior you are getting vs what you want. Using [code] tags will preserve the leading whitespace, btw. |

The new option include_nonauthor_poster is not working as expected.
With that option set to true I now have all chapters prepended with a "Chapter by ...", even if the poster of a chapter matches the book author. Not just apocrypha chapters. --- Another issue I just found, is how the plugin downloads the quoted texts inside the post. Here is a link to the post: https://forums.spacebattles.com/thre...#post-62367769 And in the book I see: Quote:

If other users agree with you, I could add additional options to remove those links.The link in quotes is directly from the site. And has changed sometime in the last few years--my older downloads have the link only on ↑ character. |

So...I was looking through my fanfic library last night and I got into a mood. Mainly because of all the absolutely useless tags from AO3. tags like "the author regrets nothing" or "finally" or "literally" or "lol". And those aren't even the worst. ugh.
So I started a new library to begin playing around. Trying to figure out how to start over and avoid all that bs. And, for what it is worth, I have fanfiction going back to 2011 to deal with. And honestly, way back when, I didn't think about all this stuff. I was just happy to have fics I liked in Calibre for sideloading. Anyway...I'm focusing on AO3 to start. I created the save metadata custom column and have that working. I have a chapter column working (values like 5/5 or 3/?). I have a length column (word count) working (with commas). And I have a "Universe" column working (populated by fandoms or what I guess is also called categories by AO3). And I have my read column back. So...a good start. Now down to the tag issue. For now, I edited include_subject_tags to remove the genre option since that seems to be where AO3 puts freeformtags and ao3categories. That seems to leave me with only tags for characters and ships. Which avoids all those no-effort freeformtags. (If I'm using the right terminology and explaining it right!) On the one hand, I'll miss some of the decent tags like "time travel" or "alternate universe", etc. But on the other, the thousands of crap tags won't exist. So next step I guess is to start moving some of the fics from my old library to this new one and update metadata. Though I still need to customize my title page and/or covers To sum all this up...if you were starting over, what are some things you would do? |

Is there a setting for saving background images? Or is that functionality not currently in the plugin?
This story uses it for effect at the end of this chapter, and I'd like to keep it, and do have stripping of css styling turned off, but I just get a tiling error picture when I load the book up in my kindle. https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/10...sistible-force |

NOTE: I make no promises that any particular Kindle or other device can render a CSS background image. I'll honestly be more surprised if it can. That images comes from this tag in the HTML: Code:
<div style='background-image: url("https://images2.imgbox.com/60/ec/3VcFhVUw_o.png")'>
First, you need to include the image in the epub with this in personal.ini: Code:
[https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/104434] additional_images:https://images2.imgbox.com/60/ec/3VcFhVUw_o.png Code:
<div style='background-image: url("https://images2.imgbox.com/60/ec/3VcFhVUw_o.png")'>
to
<div style="background-image: url(images/3VcFhVUw_o.png)">
Calibre's Polish book has an option to "Download external resources" that works to get remote CSS images in the epub. But they will be discarded on the next FFF update. Fine for completed stories, less good for actively updating stories. You know, I just remembered I added code to EpubSplit to find images in CSS a while ago. I wonder if I could make that work in FFF... I'll look into it tomorrow. |
