Help finding Detective-type Mysteries..

..minus romance, and gore.

I've read a lot of romance mysteries and I'm not interested anymore. I just want to find some good authors that can write a mystery story, and I do like series.

I like, or used to like all the Sherlock Holmes, (these are all tv shows) Midsomer Murders, Murder She Wrote. I need something more from the US authors as I'm not always good at reading other country's authors.

I learned a lot about the lingo, for example, from Midsomer Murders, but I am so familiar with the programs, I don't want to read the books.

I want something new-to-me and I like detective-types, who done it's etc. I'm so tired I hope this post can help me find something to read on my Kindle until I can purchase a new e-reader as I haven't found the one I want yet. Pretty sure it will be an Amazon Fire Tablet, at this point.

Thanks in advance, for any help finding some books I can really enjoy again. I just know I don't want blood and gore, or romantic, or sexual stuff, denise PS I don't like those cozy books, not the ones I've tried anyway, who knits or bakes all day and then goes and solves a murder mystery??

This won't be a serie, but it's (imho) a very good read: https://www.gamesradar.com/thanks-to...h-translation/

I guess the debate for the copyrights has ended, so possibly there will be an official release (I don't know, meanwhile...).

Maybe...

The Kinsey Millhone series by Sue Grafton.
The Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald (as I recall, these are a little darker).

American, no blood and gore, no romance, no sex:

Probably my very favorite of all, the Nero Wolfe mysteries by Rex Stout. They are quirky and funny and as much about the relationship between Wolfe and his sidekick/narrator, Archie Goodwin as about solving the mystery. The classic Holmes/Watson pairing.

I can also be entertained by the Ellery Queen mysteries by Ellery Queen, especially the Golden Age era ones. Meets all your parameters.

Joan Hess had a couple of entertaining series. The Claire Malloy books are a straight-up mystery series; the "Maggody" ones set in Arkansas are hilarious. There's a little mild romance, but the romance isn't the point.

I'm going to comment: A lot of the above suggestions are what the OP specifically doesn't want. I know people are trying to be helpful, but I don't see the point. People want what they want.

Hello Issy, I so like the sound of these books/author. I will see what I can find in my library, but I don't hesitate to spend a little money if they're only on Amazon Kindle Store

Thanks much, denise

Thank you @issybird, I don't like having to be so careful, but I'm recovering from CNS damage so some things I just can't handle reading about

The Honjin Murders by Seishi Yokomizo is a classic murder mystery. It isn’t gory but there is blood. It’s very much a classic whodunnit but from a Japanese author.

I have to second Rex Stout's Nero Wolfe.
Robert Goldsborough has continued the series starting in the mid 1980's and is still writing them.
