dropbox for Kobo Aura HD via NickelMenu?
Edit: Have now realized that I need to also edit the ereader's conf file in order to make the cloud storage work - found instructions for GoogleDrive and got it to work. Hurray!
---------------------------------------------------------------------- I am trying to get the Dropbox integration to work on my old Kobo Aura HD with current firmware 4.38.23555, using NickelMenu. As I do not get it to work, I wonder whether I misunderstand something, and that only newer Kobo ereaders allow for this integration - I know that they now come by default with that option. Please enlighten me! Thank you. (If it's possible, what would the required config file line be?) Last edited by zampanoo; 12-28-2025 at 07:43 AM. I’m trying to get a config to take with NM, but I’m running into errors. I’d be very appreciative if anyone much more knowledgeable than myself were able to have a look.
The config is titled config and though I edited it in TextEdit, I renamed the file to remove the file extension, so it’s a blank file. The file contains: experimental :menu_main_15505_0_enabled: 0 The NickelMenu tab gives me ‘config error’ and ‘uninstall’. The error reads: parse config files: file /mnt/onboard/.adds/ nm/config: line 1: field 1: unknown type (\rtf1 \ansilansicpg1252\cocoartf2639' (src/ config.c:327) (src/config.c:944) I’m totally confused here. Thank you if you are able to offer any assistance. |

I'm using nickelmenu to start the browser in fullscreen. Unfortunately, when started in fullscreen, I cannot hide the keyboard. It's a problem I don't have when I start the browser in modal mode.
Any tip? Thanks |

Does google drive integration work with the Libra 2? I tried enabling it in nickelmenu for my sister's device, it launches the splash screen, but then doesn't go any further. Is there a way to get it working?

I've had a similar problem this weekend. It used to work but I think they may have changed something in the backend, because with the first sync, the attributes for google drive were removed from the config file.

Uh oh. Would this be the first instance of Kobo deliberately blocking the use of NickelMenu to enable features that Kobo wants to lock behind more expensive devices?

FWIW, my stance has always been that NM will support launching all features, but will not try to bypass restrictions or include workarounds for unlocking features meant to differentiate devices.

Bluetooth Connect Still Works!
Quote:
Today I see NickelMenu has some new options for controlling bluetooth, so I have tweaked my config again after upgrading, because it is tedious as-is (just like how toggling dark mode without NickelMenu is still tedious). For extra clarity, you really do need the controller in pairing mode (fast blue LED blinking, not the slow blinking). Even if you paired the controller to the ereader in Nickel before, and have not used it with other devices between use, it won't reconnect by just turning the controller on by pressing home. Auto-connecting seemed to work if I went to bluetooth settings by clicking the bluetooth icon on the home screen, then clicking “bluetooth settings”, but not consistently. While playing with my NickelMenu config a bit more, it didn't auto-connect when I went to the BT settings menu. So for quickly reconnecting it for use in Nickel reliably, use NickelMenu with the Bluetooth Connect code above, and always put the controller in pairing mode before selecting it in NickelMenu. Much nicer to use one of these with this than without. Backing out of the reader and going to bluetooth setting menu gets old very quickly. Here's a little snippet for turning off both bluetooth and wifi, and putting the device to sleep in one go: Code:
menu_item : reader : BT+Wifi Off & Sleep : nickel_bluetooth : disable chain_success : nickel_wifi : disable chain_success : power : sleep In addition, I have tasks that turn wifi on or off, and another task that turns the bluetooth and wifi off without putting the device to sleep (in case I can't remember the state of the radios, and want them both off). Now that I am on MobileRead myself, I'll share my own full NickelMenu config that I use as of the time I made this comment, in case anyone else here may find it useful: Spoiler:
