I really like my Kobo Clara Colour. I wish it had page turn buttons but I prefer the smaller size (and the smaller price). I know that the Walmart near me no longer has any ereaders to look at. That is a shame because they did have an agreement with Kobo at one time. When I went to look at them they were hidden in the back of the electronics department and the associates didn't even know what they were. They quietly disappeared over a year ago.

abbynormal52, looking on Walmarts site, I don't see any Amazon Kindles. And as far as I recall, there are no eink ereaders on display at Walmarts. Bestbuys by me have Kindles (although the displays aren't the best). Target might be another possibility for Kindles

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure if any Walmart discontinued showing the e-readers, it would be the one in my town. So many places have shut-down, or downsized on at least some departments.

I may end up keeping the one that's coming in the mail. I can afford the higher price, I just was beating myself up about have the stylus ability, when to be honest, with my tremor, I can hardly sign my name on paper, let along a screen. And I have no real artistic ability, don't make note in my books etc.

I like the buttons on top, but don't even need that. Is this buyers remorse

Well, one never needs to use a feature just because it is there. I have a Kobo Sage and while I do have both an official stylus and a third-party cheap one, I don't use them terribly often.

What *is* very nice, over the smaller Clara model, is that with the Libra Colour, you get Dropbox and Google Drive access natively. Built-in, out of the box ready. And that is so VERY useful for sideloading content without getting out a USB cable. It is a feature I personally use all the time.

The capability can be added to a Clara device via Nickel Menu and a bit of fiddling, but that might be more than you want to fuss with to have it.

And I truly doubt you'll find any Kobo devices at Walmart. They weren't thick on the ground even when the Kobo/Walmart association was active. My local store put up a display, but never hooked it up to electricity. The display didn't last long before they pulled it out.

So, yeah, you could "see" a Kobo device, and put your hands on one, but it wasn't, in any way, active. Just the case and a blank e-ink screen, LOL!

Morning Graycyn, I'm going down to Walmart this a.m. but more for some other needs. I will see what they have, but think you are probably right about actually getting to see what others are like

I suprisingly got my Kobo delivered about 4 or 5 yesterday. I took sort of a brief look, didn't take off the nice celaphane on the screen though. That was in the way of some of the lower items on the screen as it had tiny black printed something I didn't look at closely.

What I missed right off was the seeing my apps I can have on my kindle at home-screen. Buttons don't do much, I had to find out "where" to tap the screen, center to get home-finally from inside a book from libby.

I don't know, but the side-loading was something I really would like to have. I don't see so I'm way glad you mentioned that option being on the Libra??

I'm seriously thinking to stay with the kindles, just because I'm not sure now at all. I've used them a long time, since the little 7" came out at 50 bucks. They've never failed me, but finally are running out of juice now, but still working well enough for reading.

I'll chime in again when I know a bit more, but can't thank you enough for all the extra info this a.m.,

Sideloading to eink usually means sideloading books, not apps. If you want Android apps on an ereader, you'll need an Android device, like Onyx Boox ones. You can't sideload apps to eink Kindles and Kobos. You can only sideload books to them.

Thanks so much for this, I'm actually looking at the Fire HD 8. It's so familiar already, and I will keep listening to the "reviews" and/or any info folks have here.

I remember a couple of people mentioned them so I will go back and read in the thread,
