Oddly, several sites I checked did not recommend fonts that have characters with similar layout which Helvetica Neue does have. One reason that Comic Sans is often recommended is that most of the characters are different making it easier to distinguish them.

Helvetica is one of the recommended fonts. Helvetica Neue has a slightly wider space and a more consistent shape. So given the recommendation for the type of font to use, Helvetica Neue fits the recommendation better then Helvetica.

Comic Sans is mocked because of inappropriate use. It's not an evil clown.
I agree it's a better choice than a too plain and tightly kermed sans, or any of the supposed Dyslexic fonts.

The serif vs sans testing in general depends on what you read the most before the test!
Web & computer / tablet / phone and children's books are often sans. Novels are usually serif.

Jon, consistent shapes are one of the reasons that—for use by dyslexics—Helvetica Neue is not recommended. You did read my comment on Comic Sans?

I know Comic Sans is recommended. But so is Arial and Helvetica.

Is there a reason you are converting the e-pubs to Kobo format? Kobo devices support the e-pub format natively and those files should work as they are.

Ability to double-tap images to zoom them? Ability to handle ePub3 ebooks with more complex layouts or if they are fixed layout? The RMSDK renderer used in Kobo ereaders is, for me, there to allow reading Adobe ADEPT DRMmed library books.

Thank you for this. I looked ath the Metaguide Driver was installed on Calibre. After disabling that plugin the KEPUB format worked perfectly on the Kobo Libra Color.

The correct term for what that driver is doing is creating bionic reading.
