Authors Calibre to Exel in a CSV file
I have a library in Calibre with a lot of different authors.
How can I put these authors in a CSV file so I can access them in Excel? One record per author. I'm not a professional, so I don't understand everything. Please use simple language. |

Right-click on Convert Books -> Create Catalog, select the csv format and check the fields you want. You can't do it one record per author this way, though. Maybe there's another way.

Not sure I understand the OP intent, but it reminds me what @chaley implemented here:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...0&postcount=19 To use it, make a stored template named whatever you want -- I use "get_one_book_per_field_value". BTW chaley has a great gift of simplifying instructions. For beginners, I would add this: to make a stored template, you need to open Preferences -> Template Functions. After creating the stored template, paste this into calibre's search box then run the search: Code:
template:"""program: get_one_book_per_field_value('authors')#@#:b:yes"""

It is good so, I have a list of all authors and by import to Exel I was able to have the duplicates removed.
The number of authors is nov exactly correct. I wish you all a verry good Christmas and a happy 2026 |

Just as a general note, it's also possible to delete the duplicates at the back end, after export, by having Excel do it (should work for any Windows version 2010 or later and Mac 2011 or later). In the abstract, it's best to get all of the data and then operate on it, rather than assume whatever filter is being applied when retrieving the data works properly. For example, if one of the authors' forenames is Francois, some of the entries may be the pure-default-keyboard spelling with a "c", and some may be with the c-cedilla. Excel can spot these duplicates; I'm not sure whether the proposed filter inside Calibre will.
