I feel bad for you, but I've had no $ problems with Kobo (Canada store).

I've constantly kept an eye (and a saved text file) on my balances. I've only asked for a refund once or twice, and perhaps I have had to wait a few days longer than I would've liked... but I haven't had problems yet with correct $ credit balances.

I always keep money in my account, because I detest paying lots of tiny charges on my credit card.

Yeah, my spouse is interested in some of the fantasy romances. For me, the problem is that I already have many of the books though I may take a flyer on a few that sound interesting. The ones we are looking at all seem to be in Kobo Plus so nothing but time to lose.

I notice that one book I previously bought on Kindle (because it was KDP select exclusive at the time) now available on Kobo Plus. Not going to repurchase but gives me a little hope.

I’ve seen a lot of authors who are upset about the latest Amazon changes (mostly the AI book summaries, but also the DRM a little) who finally got fed up enough to leave KU and go to Kobo.

A lot are still staying in KU, but many are not which is nice.

Although Kobo’s search still SUCKS, so hopefully that and the recommendations will get better with more data.
