Coupling synced notes to book on new device

I just got a Max Lumi 2 and I want to continue studying a book from my Note 5.

Both have same version of firmware.

Syncing of the handwritten notes works lovely. Copying the book and opening it also syncs the scribbles and text annotations.

However, when I open up the handwritten notes: It generates a new note file and post-fixes a (1) at the end.

I could manually add the contents of the synced notes to the note(1)-file. However, than it doesn't sync with the Note 5 anymore.

I would like it to open the synced handwritten notes. How can I force that? Is there a database or metafile that I can hack?
