I just went through this with 3 levels of Amazon support.

I last re-registered the device in late October 2025. Now Mid-December 2025 and the registration doesn't work anymore.

US account, no 2FA.

They did give me a $50 gift card, and a 15% discount on the next Kindle I buy, but it's still really annoying.

Adding the otp code to the password (after it fails with just the password) worked for me with K2s and K3s not all that long ago. My steps were: Sign In (and fail) with just the password; add the otp to the end of the password, and click Sign In again.

That worked for me in October, but not this week.

I'm surprised there wasn't an official announcement if Amazon's doing this on purpose.

October is definitely more recently than I last tried it.

I've also seen posts on the Amazon forums that sometimes the otp alone will work the second time. I don't think I ever tried that, but it might be worth a try. But if the problem is persisting even after 2FA has been disabled on the Amazon account, it probably won't make a difference.

I was able to log in a K3 a week ago. Amazon hasn't shut it down, it just seems spotty and there are a lot of variables in the mix like 2FA on the account, etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are different validation servers that Amazon uses that are running different configs.

I can't even get a consistant OTP code sent to my text or email when I sign in on my kindle 3 and get that first error. Sometimes they wait hours to send me to OTP code.

Not a huge deal to me since I sideload everything anyway, but still pretty annoying that it's so difficult to get a legacy registered.

I tried that yesterday too. Didn't work. I'll wait a few days and try again.
