I've been watching about, as I still know nothing, as it's still a thing new to me: while having watched the Gallery 3 specs, which it's on the ReMarkable Paper Pro (which yes, it's expensive), what's to note is also that it looks having super vibrant colors, but I guess it's fine untill reading in daylight: within its lights on (at least on videos) it doesn't seems still that cool, if comparing within others devices within them front lighting active.
I guess I'd be again for the Pocketbook Inkpad 3.
Hopefully it will come something on that "Spectra 3" technology too, btw.

Software version 3.19 officially adds a brightness boost to the Remarkable Paper Pro by default. Although the update is still in beta, it includes a new "Extra Bright" toggle that essentially replicates the same effect as the hack shown in the video. But with ~11 nits it's even brighter than the hack (~8 nits). In short: no need for the workaround anymore! Just apply for the beta program or wait for the official rollout to enjoy the brighter screen.

The one shown into the video is "Spectra 3", which yet is for poster and shop displays (at the moment?); "Gallery 3" is only on ReMarkable devices (iirc), and has the better vivid colors (but, again, price).
I was looking at this (posted on another thread):

And the color differences, comparing to Kaleido, it's there.
If the updated firmware on Remarkable allows having more backlight, I don't see how that Gallery 3 won't be a better choice.

Gallery 3 keeps the 300 ppi in color mode, while others drops to 150 dpi, from their 300 dpi in black and white mode.

Ps: can't care about the apps, I mean using it just for comic or graphic novels, it won't be any slow imho.

ReMarkable Paper Pro resolution is 229 PPI (for both color and B&W), not 300 PPI:

I think there is no clear 'best' device here. It comes down to personal use cases, preferences and budget. There are nearly always tradeoffs.

Given that the topic does not mention eInk, I'm going to say the best color device is the iPad Pro with an OLED screen.

4. iPads are at least x2 overpriced

You forgot to mention the iPad needs daily recharging. And in spite of all that it’s the best ebook reader I’ve ever used and the best color reader bar none.

You might be out of date here. I just grabbed an epub that was in the Files folder of my ipad, and it opened in Books no problem.

(I've also in living memory never had to factory reset an iPad, except by choice when passing it on to someone else.)

Too heavy IMO. Even the lightest model is 290g. Also way too easy to flick over to the web or YouTube...
